The Netflix series Boyfriend on Demand is drawing even hotter popularity in its second week after release.
On Wednesday the 18th, according to the Netflix Tudum TOP 10 website, Boyfriend on Demand proved its strength by rising to No. 1 in the global TOP 10 non-English show institutional sector.
Boyfriend on Demand, which made the TOP 10 lists in 47 countries worldwide including Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Venezuela and Vietnam, completely captivated global viewers, recording 4,800,000 view counts (the number of views divided by the show's total running time) and 47,800,000 viewing hours, maintaining first place for two consecutive weeks by viewing hours. In addition, it is sweeping domestic buzz indices. In the TV-OTT integrated drama buzz for the second week of March released by Good Data Corporation Fundex, it not only ranked No. 1 for two consecutive weeks, but in cast buzz it took No. 1 (Jisu) and No. 2 (Seo Inguk) respectively, drawing intense interest.
Above all, the chemistry between Jisu and Seo Inguk has been causing daily buzz. In the unreleased stills released that day, viewers can glimpse the diverse facets of Mirae (Jisu), Gyeongnam (Seo Inguk) and Go Young-il (Seo Inguk). From the coworkers' 'hate-love' chemistry who endlessly worried about each other to the sweet romance of an office couple, Jisu and Seo Inguk brought empathy to Mirae and Gyeongnam's story and delivered heart-fluttering moments.
In particular, the realistic dating story the two completed raised immersion by naturally blending the fantastical premise of a "virtual dating subscription service" into realistic emotional lines. It was possible thanks to Jisu, who completed a charming character with varied transformations, and Seo Inguk, who perfectly handled two roles.
Meanwhile, dating moments between Mirae and the virtual lovers were also captured. The special guest actors whose performances gave reality to the Boyfriend on Demand world generated daily buzz.
Seo Kang-jun charged viewers' rom-com fantasies by playing Eunho, the campus heartthrob who manipulates memories of first love. Lee Soo-hyuk embodied the unreal character Siwoo, a chaebol third-generation webtoon male lead, as if it were a tailored suit, and Kim Sung-Cheol delivered a moving and heart-wrenching performance as the ex-boyfriend Sejun. Lee Jae-wook, transformed into a doctor, captivated viewers with a seemingly "crispy on the outside, tender on the inside" charm, and Lee Hyun-wook, who became a handsome judge, showed an intellectual and gentle allure. Kim Young Dae, who played a character from the Joseon dynasty, delivered short but powerful impact that caused fluttering. In addition, interest in and love for Boyfriend on Demand continue thanks to the performances of other charming actors such as Ong Seongwu, Hojutajan, Moo Jin-seong, Park Jae-beom and Lee Sang Yi.
