A fan who said they were about to get married sent a letter saying they wanted a no-wedding and asked Shinji for wedding preparation tips.
Shinji said "No-wedding literally means skipping the ceremony itself, doesn't it? I actually wondered whether a wedding is absolutely necessary. But it's not easy," and added, "Also, elders may still want to announce in front of people that their child is getting married. So even if you don't want to have a wedding, there are situations where you have to have one."
She conveyed statistics showing that half of respondents viewed weddings negatively and said, "I think this is a cost issue. Because it isn't a fixed-price system, these things seem to happen. There is a base price, and then when you add floral decorations and other things, the cost shoots up. That's why people talk about wedding inflation," she explained.
She added, "Honestly, while preparing, I found there were far more additional costs than I thought. Then I really wanted to not have a wedding. We already live together, and many people now view it as a common-law relationship, don't they?"
Shinji revealed the tip not to set the guarantee number too high and said frankly, "Carefully sorting the guest list seems really important. In fact, from the time of filming, we are having a hard time sorting the guest list. Even if you set a fixed guaranteed number and say these companies will attend, many people who said they would come can't on the day."
She continued, "Floral decorations are really a headache. Video, strings, photo tables and things like that are options that, if chosen as basic options, might be effective in cutting costs. This is a personal opinion, but if you want a no-wedding, discuss it well with your parents and choose no-wedding. I hope you make a wise choice. If you say you value your living environment more, then I think choosing no-wedding might be an option," she said.
Meanwhile, Shinji is set to hold a wedding in May with singer Moonwon, who is seven years her junior. The two have finished wedding photos and have prepared a home to live together.
