Actor Lee Jae-ryong admitted to allegations of "drinking to alter test results."
On the 18th, police said Lee Jae-ryong admitted to the allegations and was sent to the prosecution.
Earlier, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul had applied an additional charge of obstructing breath alcohol measurement to Lee Jae-ryong, who was accused of drunk driving and failure to take action after an accident under the Road Traffic Act, and was currently investigating the case.
Police believe Lee Jae-ryong caused the accident, fled to avoid having his blood alcohol level determined, then drank more alcohol, attempting the so-called "drinking to alter test results" method to make it difficult to determine his exact blood alcohol level at the time of the accident.
After the accident, Lee Jae-ryong is reported to have parked his car at his home, then walked about 20 minutes to a restaurant where he joined acquaintances. At that gathering, one bottle of distilled liquor and two servings of meat were reported to have been ordered.
About three hours after the accident, Lee Jae-ryong was arrested at an acquaintance's home and denied drunk driving, but the next day he reversed his statement, saying, "I drank four shots of soju and drove, and I thought I had lightly touched the center divider." However, during police questioning he allegedly explained that the additional drinking at the restaurant had been a prearranged plan and that he had not been trying to alter test results.
Lee Jae-ryong is accused of driving a vehicle on a road near Cheongdam Station in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, around 11 p.m. on the 6th, hitting the center divider and then leaving the scene.
Immediately after the accident, Lee Jae-ryong is reported to have parked his car at his Cheongdam-dong residence, visited an acquaintance's home, and was arrested by police around 2 a.m. the next day. The breath test at the time reportedly showed his blood alcohol concentration was at the level requiring license suspension.
