On the 17th episode of TV CHOSUN's new variety show 'X's private life,' actor Park Jae-hyun confessed about his family affairs.
That day Park Jae-hyun revealed that his currently 8-year-old daughter suffers from a heart disease. His ex-wife recalled, "When I was five months pregnant, I learned of a condition called 'transposition of the great vessels,'" and remembered, "The positions of the atria and the vessels were reversed."
The daughter underwent as many as four surgeries by the age of 5, and Park Jae-hyun recalled, "After the third surgery, before the final surgery, I suggested we live with my parents," and "My wife readily agreed, so a week before the surgery my parents came to live with us."
But he said conflicts began around that time, adding to the sadness. Referring to his family history, Park Jae-hyun said, "On the day we returned from Vietnam, my father passed away," and "My older brother had already died, so only my mother and daughter remained." Especially close to his mother, he reportedly expressed his care every day with the words, "I love you."
Watching this, his ex-wife Han Hye-joo calmly revealed, "I was the one who often expressed 'I love you' to my mother-in-law," and "I had no complaints and took better care of my in-laws than my own family." Seeing this, Kim Gu Ra said, "Why did he divorce such a young, saintlike wife? I'll have to watch more," expressing curiosity.
Afterward, Park Jae-hyun visited the columbarium where his father is enshrined with his daughter. He recalled, "My father passed away one year and four months after the divorce," and recounted that on the day of the funeral his daughter suddenly fell ill and could not attend.
The daughter, who was especially attached to her grandfather, wrote a letter and left it at the columbarium, and his ex-wife also shed tears upon seeing it. Han Hye-joo, choking up, said, "My father-in-law called me 'our princess' and cherished me like his own daughter," and "I know he lived for us."
About the in-law relationship that does not easily resolve even after the divorce, Jang Yoon Jeong said, "Even if a couple separates, familial affection remains," and Kim Gu Ra also sympathized, "Even if you divorce, the relationship does not cut off at once."
Meanwhile, Park Jae-hyun met his daughter and ex-wife on a scheduled visitation day. Although it was the third year after the divorce, the three greeted each other with bright expressions, and scenes showed them naturally spending time together centered on their daughter.
