BTS, who are set to make a comeback on Mar. 20, released part of their new song "SWIM."
On the 18th at 12 a.m., BTS posted a music video teaser for the title track "SWIM" from their fifth full-length album "Arirang" (ARIRANG) on their official social media and YouTube channel. The melody of the song is revealed for the first time in this video, heightening anticipation for their comeback after 3 years and 9 months.
The teaser video begins with a woman rushing into an empty museum and looking around the exhibition space. She then stops in front of a large ship model and cannot take her eyes off it for a while. The surrounding lights then go off one by one, leaving only the model in the spotlight. The scene shifts to a sea sparkling with reflected light. It ends with the word "SWIM" appearing over calm waves.
Directed by Tanu Muino, the video is like a short film. Tanu Muino has worked with Post Malone, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa and directed Jungkook's "Standing Next to You" music video.
BTS will release the new record "Arirang" at 1 p.m. on the 20th. The album, executive produced by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, deals with BTS's identity and universal emotions that many people can relate to. The title track "SWIM" is an upbeat alternative pop song that sings about continuing to swim forward without stopping amid life's waves. RM wrote most of the lyrics, reflecting what BTS thinks now.
BTS will continue active promotions after the comeback. On the 21st at 8 p.m., they will hold "BTS comeback live: ARIRANG" (BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG) around Gwanghwamun Square. Then on the 24th, in collaboration with global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, they will hold "Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE" in New York, U.S. That day BTS will meet local fans and perform the new song.
