'You Quiz on the Block' actor Yeom Hye-ran showed an unexpected side.
On the 18th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz'), Yeom Hye-ran, the top casting choice for famous writers and directors, appeared. Yeom Hye-ran said, "I had prepared an answer. I can't remember. This is bad," adding, "Ah, I remember. My true self is not someone admirable, and I wondered what would happen if people see me and feel disappointed."
Yeom Hye-ran said that because of her cautious personality she cannot easily exchange numbers, but she was an equally cheerful person. She said she got her cheerfulness from her mother. Yeom Hye-ran recalled, "One day a kid I didn't know called. He asked me, 'Is it real?'" and added, "When I asked what happened, I found out my mother had told a neighborhood kid, 'My daughter is Yeom Hye-ran.' When the kid asked if it was true, she said it was my daughter and gave him my number," which surprised everyone.
She went on to say, "When I asked, 'How could you give out my information?' my mother said, 'I strongly warned them,'" which made everyone laugh.
Yeom Hye-ran, who moved many to tears as Gwang-rye, a mother who loves her daughter Ae-sun, in When Life Gives You Tangerines, said, "The reason I appeared on 'You Quiz' is that many people cry when they see me, and I want to tell them I'm not that kind of person. I am not a mother like Gwang-rye; I am a daughter like Geum-myung."
She added, "My mother is getting older and not feeling well, so there are not many moments she smiles. I hope she sees and laughs a lot," saying, "My mother had many things, but it seems she never received recognition or praise. I receive recognition for even the smallest things. She was born in a time when she could not receive recognition compared with what she had."
She said, "My mother is a pretty good woman. She raised us well, endured hard times, and overcame them. I'm sorry only harsh words came out. I love her," tearing up but holding back firmly.
