Group 2PM member Nichkhun has recently reported being stalked, and his agency has taken a tough stance.
2PM's agency JYP Entertainment announced on the 18th through its official fan platform that "we have confirmed stalking-like approaches that infringe on a 2PM member's private life and threaten his safety."
The agency said, "It was confirmed that someone followed the artist's route for a long time, made threatening remarks and actions, and continuously attempted to approach," and "we consider this behavior a serious matter that severely threatens the artist's physical and mental safety, and we are currently securing related evidence and taking legal action."
It added, "If the same or similar stalking behavior occurs in the future, we will immediately take additional legal action without leniency," and emphasized, "Persistent following, tracking of routes and dissemination of information to the extent of intruding on an artist's daily life are all clear crimes. We prioritize protecting the personal rights and safety of our artists, and we will respond strongly without exception to any acts that violate them."
It also said, "Collection of malicious posts about the artist and legal responses are also ongoing, and we ask fans for their attention and active reports on related matters. Earlier, Nichkhun posted a long message on his social media on the 14th saying, "Last night I was taking a walk around my house when someone who called themselves a fan followed me and I was stalked."
Nichkhun said, "That person followed me for almost 30 minutes, shouting aggressively in Chinese almost next to me and cursing," and explained, "I didn't want to drag that person into my home, so I couldn't return home. I walked to a nearby police station, asked an officer for help, and made sure that person could no longer follow me."
He added, "I was afraid that person would wait and follow me again, so I was escorted home by a police car," and warned, "I know who you are, and I will take legal action."
Nichkhun also said in anger, "You even physically assaulted me," and "So don't think I won't do anything. This is a serious intrusion into my private life and safety."
