In the premiere of TV CHOSUN's new variety show "X's privacy" aired on the 17th, actor Park Jae-hyun candidly spoke about his marriage, divorce and his daughter's pain.
Park Jae-hyun is an actor who had been active for 20 years in the reenactment program "Surprise" and was called "Surprise Jang Dongkeon." He married a partner 16 years his junior three years ago, and six months after they met they announced they were expecting a second child.
At the time he recalled, "I greeted both sets of parents and they gladly gave their blessing," and said, "We pledged to live well together and raise the child well, and we were truly happy."
But married life was different from what he expected. In particular, his daughter's health issues became a major variable. Park Jae-hyun said, "When my wife was five months pregnant the daughter was diagnosed with a heart disease," and mentioned a rare condition called "transposition of the great arteries." It is a disease in which the positions of the heart and blood vessels are reversed, and the young daughter had to undergo four surgeries by the age of five.
He recalled the situation, saying, "After the third surgery, before the last surgery I suggested we bring my parents to live with us, and my wife agreed," and added, "My parents came a week before the surgery."
But this period was the beginning of the conflict. Park Jae-hyun said, "I thought family meant eating together and talking together," and admitted, "My wife couldn't get up well in the morning, and during the week my parents were here we couldn't eat breakfast together." He continued, "Before my parents left, I said let's have breakfast together even for one day, and that was the start of the fight," he confessed.
MC Jang Yoon Jeong asked, "Why was she so obsessed with breakfast?" and Kim Gu Ra guessed, "With the child being sick and receiving help from the parents, she must have felt like a sinner," adding, "Economic burden and conservative values must have played a role."
