Illegal viewing of the Netflix series "Boyfriend on Demand" is being carried out in China.
On the 17th, Seo Kyoung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, said a review page for the Netflix series "Boyfriend on Demand" was created on Douban, China's largest review site, and as of that day about 7,000 people had participated in the star ratings and about 3,500 reviews had been left.
Currently, Netflix does not officially operate in China. This appears to be a case of people illegally viewing "Boyfriend on Demand" and then leaving reviews.
According to Netflix, "Boyfriend on Demand" rose to No. 4 in the global weekly top 10 non-English TV shows just three days after its release. It also quickly attracted global viewers by appearing on the top 10 lists in 34 countries worldwide, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil and Chile.
In response, Professor Seo said, "Now illegal viewing has become routine in China," and noted, "What is more astonishing is that they feel no shame at all."
Professor Seo especially emphasized, "It is time for Chinese authorities to step up even now," and warned, "They must focus on publicizing the problems of their citizens' illegal actions and take measures so that this never happens again."
