'Malja Show' Kim Young-hee comforted the hearts of working moms.
On the 16th, KBS2's 'Malja Show' aired a 'back-to-school' special. In that episode, the concern "A capable working mom outside, an inadequate mom at home. Is there a right answer to the guilt toward children?" appeared, drawing empathy from many mothers.
Kim Young-hee, known as 'Malja halmae' and also a working mom, said, "When trying to balance work and childrearing, mothers sometimes feel sorry toward their children." But she emphasized, "There is not a single parent who should feel sorry to their children. They are giving love as best they can within their abilities."
Kim Young-hee said, "I brainwash myself as 'I am a cool mom who does my job.' Still, sometimes I get hit with reality" and recounted an episode she actually experienced. She said that after finishing a regional schedule and staying alone at the lodging, she saw a video of children the same age as her daughter riding tricycles, and belatedly confessed, "I realized my daughter is at the age to ride a tricycle."
Kim Young-hee said, "That day tears just poured out," and immediately ordered a tricycle, then called her husband saying she wanted to hear their daughter's voice. But Kim Young-hee's daughter, not knowing her mother was listening, reportedly said, "Tell mom I'm going to sleep," creating a sea of laughter.
She also recounted an episode of taking her 4-year-old daughter to a recent New York performance. Earlier, last month Kim Young-hee posted on her SNS the caption "my daughter accompanying me on my New York schedule" along with several photos that drew attention, including images of her daughter sitting in a business-class seat wearing headphones and eating an in-flight meal.
Kim Young-hee said, "I didn't want to be apart from my daughter for long, so I took her, but we only felt the coldest weather in 65 years," and added, "I took her to a high-end steakhouse, but the child couldn't adjust to the time difference and just slept in front of the steak," prompting laughter. She went on to advise, "Highlight the things you did well more than what you felt sorry for, and there's no need to boast to the i-dle."
Kim Young-hee's daughter Yoon Hae also appeared on the episode. When asked, "Do you like mom or dad?", Hae answered, "Mom for now," and when asked, "What part of mom is the prettiest?" she answered, "Teeth," provoking laughter. When asked why she liked her mother, she candidly said, "Because she buys me things," adding more laughter.
