SBS's Shin I-rang law office received an explosive reaction for an "Easter egg" that cleverly used the actors' previous filmographies.
On the 14th, the 2nd episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Shin I-rang law office (directed by Shin Jung-hoon, written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu, produced by Studio S and Mongjakso) featured the production team's delightful details hidden throughout the case that caught viewers' attention. They naturally summoned the actors' signature characters in elements that flash by briefly. The hunt for tiny parody points is delivering another "divine" pleasure among viewers, who say, "There's this kind of fun too."
#. "Did you graduate from medical school together too?" Yoo Yeon-seok's "Seulgi-like" romantic doctor summoned
In the 2nd episode, Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) set out to secure decisive evidence to resolve the grievance of Lee Gang-poong (Heo Sung-tae), who died unjustly. He emphasized the importance of the hospital's main computer system, EMR (Electronic Medical Record), and unhesitatingly explained that finding that hard drive alone could overturn the doctor's false claim that the patient died from cardiac arrest during surgery. Watching in a daze, Lee Gang-poong exclaimed, "Lawyer, you're romantic," and "Did you graduate from medical school together, lawyer? How Seulgi-like!" These lines evoked Yoo Yeon-seok's previous roles in Dr. Romantic and Hospital Playlist and prompted laughter.
#. "Why is this name appearing here?" Esom pulls out the "Kang Hana" prosecutor ID
Esom also thrilled fans by unexpectedly summoning a striking character from her previous work. Hanna Hyun (Esom), who planned to infiltrate a used appliance warehouse where evidence was hidden by disguising herself as a prosecutor, revealed a fake ID bearing the name "Prosecutor Kang Hana." This was the fiery, sharp character Esom played in season 1 of the SBS "Taxi Driver," which became a legend of the "cider hero drama" with consecutive hits across all three seasons. Not only the ID but also Kang Hana's signature "permed hairstyle" was used to infiltrate enemy lines, adding a detail that connects the SBS Friday-Saturday drama universe. Viewers cheered, saying, "This is an all-time cameo appearance," and "I've wanted to see Prosecutor Kang Hana."
The production team said of these parodies, "They were homages filled with affection toward the actors. They were also devices placed so that viewers could feel small pleasures even amid the tense situation of searching for the EMR hard drive, the key evidence to solve the case." They added, "We will continue to provide various entertaining elements that allow us to breathe with viewers while not losing the work's authenticity. Please stay with the divine lawyer Shin I-rang."
Meanwhile, after Shin I-rang achieved his first courtroom victory, another deceased high school girl appeared before him, foreshadowing the second divine case. The SBS Friday-Saturday drama Shin I-rang law office airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
