Singer Kim Dahyun's solo concert continues to sail smoothly.
The solo concert "Dream," which began in Seoul on the 7th and continues to Yeungnam University Chunma Art Center in Daegu on March 28, filled the seats of Kyung Hee University Peace Hall in Seoul and on the 14th the 3,300-seat Busan KBS Hall also created a spectacular sea of pink.
Even before the performance began, the front yard of Busan KBS Hall was packed with fans holding pink light sticks. On stage, the path of 18-year-old high school singer Kim Dahyun unfolded like a panorama. Since she started trot at age six to appear on "National Singing Contest," she spent 12 years collecting trophies at various competitions, bringing to life Kim Dahyun's emergence at the center of Korea's trot scene.
Not only were the stages lively and exciting, but the emotional impact intensified during quiet moments. After the music video for the title track "Mom" from her second full album was shown on the big screen and Kim Dahyun's plaintive song began, middle-aged and older audience members wiping away tears here and there were spotted in the crowd, creating a solemn atmosphere.
During the roughly 120-minute performance, Kim Dahyun expressed her dreams with passion, sharing hope and joyful dreams with fans worn down by everyday hardships and current affairs. From the start to the end of the show, the audience waved pink light sticks in support of Kim Dahyun's pink dream.
What makes Kim Dahyun's first solo concert "Dream" even more meaningful is that her family joined in to show the singer's 12 years of dreamed passion for music. It became a topic of conversation after it was revealed that her father, Medal of Honor recipient Kim Bong-gon, planned and directed the performance as general producer.
Medal of Honor recipient Kim Bong-gon planned Kim Dahyun's nationwide solo tour two years ago, and father and daughter discussed and organized ideas about the concert whenever they had time. What gave extra weight to this performance was her desire to show the process by which the singer's dream was achieved, and also to deliver a message of hope to many people through that process.
In that process, Kim Bong-gon said, "Because of the nature of the profession of being a singer, I finally realized that raising a child is not something parents do alone but something done together with countless people."
Kim Dahyun, who has pursued the life of a singer she dreamed of since age 4, met fans on a stage that showed her dream realized after 12 years. "The dream stage solo concert is by no means a stage for me alone," she said, adding, "I believe that because there are countless fans who always support and love me, teachers, and my ever-present family, that dream was realized and could succeed."
She continued, "This first concert is not only a great honor and blessing for me but also for my family. I am deeply grateful to those who supported and loved my dream."
