Today (17th) at 8 p.m., Channel A's 'Birth of the Body God' will feature a contestant in her 50s suffering from blood pressure that is hard to control even with medication and recurring headaches.
The contestant who visited 'Birth of the Body God' that day said that after being diagnosed with hypertension she tried to manage her blood pressure on her own after hearing "once you start taking medicine, you have to take it for life," but ultimately began taking medication. However, even after starting medication her blood pressure did not drop easily and her headaches continued. She added with regret that her father died of a stroke, her mother of a cerebral hemorrhage, and her older sister experienced a ruptured cerebral aneurysm, indicating a high family history of cerebrovascular disease.
An examination of the contestant's vascular health showed that her vascular age was in the mid-60s, older than her actual age, and that her vessels were rigid and hardened, drawing attention. More shocking was that traces of blocked microvessels were found on the contestant's brain MRI. If, as with the contestant, hypertension damages vessels and the number of blocked microvessels increases, it can lead to vascular dementia. In particular, once small brain vessels are damaged the traces do not disappear, and in severe cases they can raise the risk of permanent disability or death, underscoring the seriousness.
In response, body expert maker Jung Jin-young proposed the 'Brain power up! project' to manage the contestant's blocked cerebral vessels and revive brain function. Especially, MC Yoo Min-sang was reportedly surprised by the ultra-simple solution when he saw the 'K-Mediterranean diet,' a Korean reinterpretation of the Mediterranean diet, saying, "Is it that easy?"
As attention focuses on whether the contestant can restore her damaged cerebral vascular health, Channel A's 'Birth of the Body God' airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Channel A.
