Yoon Jong-hoon and Um Hyun-kyung have signaled they will dominate weekday living rooms with their perfect acting synergy.
The new KBS 1TV daily drama set to premiere on the 30th, 'Gippeun Uri Joeun Nal' (directed by Lee Jae-sang, written by Nam Seon-hye), is a melodramatic family drama about various generations who each want to become "the protagonist of my life," featuring a life-or-death showdown between the world's most perfect man and a bungling woman.
Yoon Jong-hoon plays Go Gyeol, a perfect man who is a competent architect and head of strategic planning at Gangsu Construction, bringing viewers a surface-tough-but-tender charm. Um Hyun-kyung plays Jo Eun-ae, co-CEO of the AI Start - Up "Lucky Joy," spreading a lovable, slightly clumsy happy virus. Two weeks before the premiere, Yoon Jong-hoon and Um Hyun-kyung shared their thoughts on joining the production.
First, Yoon Jong-hoon said, "I thought what moves people's hearts is ordinary daily life and warm consolation," citing the "warmth of the script" as his reason for choosing the project. Um Hyun-kyung also said, "The very fabric of the drama is very warm and familial," adding, "If it's a happy and good day, isn't that the best day? I thought doing this drama would always feel like the best day," showing special affection for the project. The two also added, "We really wanted to work with director Lee Jae-sang and writer Nam Seon-hye, who make great family dramas," raising expectations for the new story their top production team and solid cast combination will deliver.
Go Gyeol, played by Yoon Jong-hoon, is a character with a distinctive coolness. He explained, "Go Gyeol has a prickly nature from childhood wounds but I think he's actually the warmest person, and that's the charming part of the character," adding, "I'm concentrating on conveying Go Gyeol's sincerity." Yoon Jong-hoon's three-dimensional acting, alternating between prickliness and warmth, already stirs excitement about what it will add to the drama.
Jo Eun-ae, portrayed by Um Hyun-kyung, is a character overflowing with humanity, not only for her quirky charm but also for her exceptional likability and kindness. Um Hyun-kyung emphasized Jo Eun-ae's "surprising side," saying, "She is intelligent and decisive enough to develop an app because she wants people to live comfortably." Um Hyun-kyung added, "I'm trying to realize a character that melts into reality so viewers can empathize a lot," heightening curiosity about the reality-rooted performance she will show.
Meanwhile, Yoon Jong-hoon and Um Hyun-kyung said their acting chemistry was "a perfect match," raising expectations for their on-screen chemistry. Yoon Jong-hoon expressed confidence, saying, "The atmosphere is really warm and friendly. Thanks to the fellow actors, I think it will be a good production," and Um Hyun-kyung boasted of their perfect fit, saying, "The four leads gathered for a reading in advance, and our chemistry was as if we had just finished shooting yesterday."
Finally, Yoon Jong-hoon and Um Hyun-kyung expressed their wish to share the preciousness and happiness that come from ordinary daily life through 'Gippeun Uri Joeun Nal.' Meanwhile, director Lee Jae-sang, recognized for warm and meticulous direction in 'I Had a Great Day' and 'My Father Is Strange,' and writer Nam Seon-hye, who showcased trendy writing in 'Sujimat-eun Uri' and 'Amor Party - Love, Now,' have teamed up for the new KBS 1TV daily drama 'Gippeun Uri Joeun Nal,' which will follow 'Marie and Her Three Daddies' and premiere on March 30 (Mon) at 8:30 p.m.
