'The easiest knowledge show'–branded new Netflix variety show makes its debut.
The Netflix daily variety show Manhakdo G.C. (directed by Jeong Do-dam, produced by TEO), which will be released at 5 p.m. on the 30th (Mon), is a reality‑oriented knowledge exploration variety show that lowers the threshold of knowledge with raw questions. Broadcaster Jee Seokjin and Oh My Girl member Mimi will host as MCs, exploring light but wide‑ranging knowledge with guests each episode and relieving viewers' intellectual itches.
Jee Seokjin, who takes the title role, is a veteran entertainer who, after winning the Pinggego award, stands at the pinnacle of variety shows and is loved for his characteristic witty speaking and entertainment sense. On Manhakdo G.C., he plays the role of a studious Mansour who wants to learn everything from the latest trends to IT information, enjoying knowledge as 'play' rather than 'authority' and acting as an icon of intellectual rejuvenation.
Mimi is a member of Oh My Girl and a YouTuber with 500,000 subscribers, an MZ icon at the center of trends. She gives laughs with her quirky way of speaking, but when you look closer she is the owner of a high academic zeal and a 'reverse charm.' As an MC on Manhakdo G.C., she is expected to act as a 'question villain' who scratches viewers' itches and as a relatable fairy.
The released teaser video grabs attention from the start with the appearance of Jee Seokjin, who turns 60 this year. Though he briefly promotes 'culture' as his pursuit, that quickly passes as Jee Seokjin's offbeat barrage of questions that embarrass guests continues and elicits bursts of laughter. Captions saying "We answer the questions you were too embarrassed to ask" appear, and unexpected 'Jee Seokjin‑style questions' pour out, heralding the birth of the 'easiest knowledge show' like nothing seen before.
The other MC, Mimi, is no less impressive. Mimi delivers hits to the core with simple questions and even shows a scene where a guest tries to recruit her. Her distinct speaking style sometimes shows logical clarity and at other times reveals an adorable clumsiness, raising expectations.
Manhakdo G.C. will start with science communicator Orbit as the lead in episode 1 and will feature guests with a variety of spectrums. The planning intent is to offer a feeling of gaining more substantial information than expected while remaining as comfortable as chatting with friends. The chemistry between Jee Seokjin and Mimi is also an unmissable point; the two will showcase perfectly matched rhythms by displaying overflowing academic zeal and sometimes acting as 'belly‑flippers' that embarrass guests. Attention is focused on whether the cultured and entertaining Manhakdo G.C. can establish itself as a new 'meal friend' variety show.
Manhakdo G.C. will release episodes 1 and 2 on Netflix at 5 p.m. on the 30th (Mon). Thereafter, one episode will be released sequentially every Monday at 5 p.m.<
