A granddaughter of the Namyang Dairy Products founder and former girlfriend of singer and actor Park Yuchun, Hwang Hana, denied all charges at her first trial on drug charges.
On the 17th, the Suwon District Court Anyang Branch Criminal Division 3 held the first court hearing for Hwang Hana, who was detained and indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, etc. (psychotropic substances). On that day, Hwang Hana's side said, "She denies all the charges."
Hwang Hana is accused of encouraging two acquaintances to use methamphetamine and personally administering injections to them at an apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, in July 2023. However, it was reported that Hwang Hana, while admitting she was at the scene, denied the charges, saying she did not actually perform the drug administration.
During the investigation, when a search and seizure of accomplices was carried out, Hwang Hana left for Thailand the next day and continued to evade authorities. Afterwards, her passport was invalidated and a red notice was issued, and it was found that she entered Cambodia illegally via Thailand and stayed there.
While fleeing, Hwang Hana expressed her willingness to voluntarily appear to police at the end of last year and was arrested by domestic investigators at Phnom Penh airport in Cambodia. Prosecutors are reported to have detected signs that she tried to induce accomplices to give favorable testimony during this process.
Hwang Hana has a prior conviction for drug use. In 2015 she received a suspended prison sentence for drug use, and the following year, during the suspended sentence period, she used drugs again and was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison.
Meanwhile, Hwang Hana is known as a granddaughter of the Namyang Dairy Products founder and gained public attention in the past while publicly dating singer and actor Park Yuchun.
