The group SeeYa (Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji, Lee Bo-ram), which dominated the 2000s pop scene, will mark its 20th debut anniversary by releasing the new full-group song "Nevertheless, we" and making a comeback on the 30th.
The new song "Nevertheless, we," born after a long 15-year wait, was led by master producer Park Geun-tae, who shared SeeYa's heyday and created numerous hit songs, maximizing the unique sensibility only SeeYa can show.
In particular, the three members Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji, and Lee Bo-ram participated directly in the songwriting, adding to its meaning.
During the 15-year hiatus, they honestly infused each line of the lyrics with the longing and apologies they could not bring themselves to tell fans, and the miracle-like moment of meeting again. After 20 years, the members' voices have deepened and their perfect harmony is expected to deliver a drama-like emotional impact.
According to those involved, the recording site was reportedly a sea of tears. The three members, who stood together in front of the microphone for the first time in 15 years, could not contain their overwhelming emotions whenever they reached the chorus and sobbed, causing the recording to be stopped several times. Even as continued tears choked their voices, they repeatedly re-recorded and poured sincerity into the performance.
Producer Park Geun-tae, who watched the scene, said, "All of SeeYa's time and sincerity are condensed in this one song," and expressed strong confidence, saying, "It will prove to be more than just a reunion song."
Through their agency, the SeeYa members said, "We poured all the stories we had buried in our hearts over 20 years into this song," and added, "During the recording, memories of the past flashed by like a slideshow, and we could not stop crying. We fervently hope that our sincerity reaches the fans who waited so long."
On the day of the song's release, the 30th, SeeYa will hold a fan meeting at "Eedles" in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and meet fans in person. This fan meeting, in which the members directly participated in the overall planning, is expected to be a meaningful occasion to reminisce about the past 20 years and promise SeeYa's new second act to come.
Also, starting with this pre-release song, SeeYa will release a full-length album in May featuring a collaboration of the era's top producers such as Park Geun-tae and Kim Do-hoon.
