Review: This is a review article written after watching the broadcast.
On Running Man, singer Kim Jong Kook opened up about a health issue, causing concern among the members. The news drew more attention because it came while he is enjoying a happy newlywed life after marriage.
Earlier, Kim Jong Kook married a non-celebrity woman on Sept. 5 last year. The wedding, held in complete secrecy including guests, venue and schedule, became a major topic. He said of his relationship with his wife, "We originally knew each other." When Jun Hyun-moo asked, "She was a female friend, but did she suddenly look like a woman?" Kim Jong Kook said, "We were like siblings, but at some point I thought, 'If I marry this person I will really be happy,'" revealing what changed his feelings toward his wife.
Meanwhile, on the opening of the SBS variety show Running Man broadcast on the 15th, Kim Jong Kook's changed appearance was spotted, surprising the members. That day he appeared supported by Haha, and seeing this Jee Seokjin said, "Jong Kook doesn't seem well."
Kim Jong Kook said of his condition, "I caught a strange illness I've never heard of in my life," and explained that there was a problem with his cochlea. He did not disclose the exact diagnosis but said there were symptoms affecting his sense of balance, causing concern. Jee Seokjin also added, "It seems there is a slight problem with his sense of balance."
Yu Jae-seok also mentioned Kim Jong Kook's condition. He said, "Even if you tell him to go in and rest because he's not well, he won't go," conveying Kim Jong Kook's sense of responsibility. Kim Jong Kook lightened the mood with a laugh, saying, "When I told my mother I wasn't feeling well, she said, 'Still, shouldn't you go to the shoot?'"
Fortunately, the condition was reported to be temporary. Kim Jong Kook said, "They said it should be fine after about a week," reassuring the members and viewers, but many sent wishes for a quick recovery. In particular, his diligence and sense of responsibility in participating in the broadcast despite not feeling well drew admiration.
Meanwhile, that day's broadcast featured the short track national team athletes who were the protagonists of the 2026 Milano–Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics, drawing attention. They completed a "golden lineup" with Chey Min-jung, the "queen of short track" who set the record for the most medals in Korea's Olympic history, joined by Noh Do-hee, Lee June-seo, Lee Jeong-min and Shin Dong-min.
This race was held under the concept "Is speed also a spring for recharging vitality?" A spring-scented mukbang healing course to help replenish the energy of the short track athletes returning after promoting national prestige unfolded, and the members and athletes continued a pleasant race together, bringing fun.
