"Method acting" Lee Dong-hwi revealed an afterstory about appearing on a promotional broadcast in a shocking alien makeup.
On the morning of the 16th at a cafe in Pálpandong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview with the film "Method acting" lead actor Lee Dong-hwi was held.
"Method acting" (written and directed by Lee Ki-hyeok, produced by Runup Company, distributed by By4M Studio) follows the story of the "funny actor" Lee Dong-hwi, who rose to fame as a comedian but dislikes doing comedy, and who becomes obsessively immersed in a role to be recognized for sincere acting. Based on a short film of the same name, it is an expanded feature project, completed as a collaboration between director Lee Ki-hyeok and Lee Dong-hwi following the short film, a meta comedy about obsessive immersion.
In particular, Lee Dong-hwi plays a character named Lee Dong-hwi in the film, offering fresh fun with an inventive setup that blurs reality and fiction and a playful, reality-bending development. In this film he not only stars but also participated in production. Lee Dong-hwi appeared on the final episode of KBS2 music talk show The Seasons : 10CM's Pat-Pat ahead of the release and attracted attention by appearing in shocking alien makeup. Feeling a reality check at his alien look, he repeatedly said "I'm sorry," causing everyone to burst out laughing, and even cried out, "Jeong-yeol, please come back," shedding tears.
He said, "I didn't know it was the final broadcast of 'Pat-Pat,' and I didn't know I was the first person to wear makeup on The Seasons. They said the tradition of that makeup had ended, and that I was the one to bring it back. When I originally appeared on the music show for the last time, I promised the production staff I would come out next time with a special makeup and perform a special song. Since I'm involved in film production, I had a lot of concerns about promotion," and added, "No one told me to do it, and no one asked me to, but I went to Yoo Byungjae's birthday party without him knowing and couldn't say 'it's a character from the film,' and I tried to expand the universe a month later with a sub-character, but I think I failed."
He continued, "As a result, I think my greed went too far and caused inconvenience to you all," and said, "So for the song I performed something I had prepared for a very long time. I tried to show a song I've never shown anywhere else. I don't think that alien makeup will be easy to see again."
While making the film he also felt the feelings of his agency CEO Lee Je-hoon, saying, "I realized that taking responsibility for something is a really difficult thing. I told that to Je-hoon hyung as well. I'm grateful he willingly allowed me to wear alien makeup and carry out the activities. He has supported me a lot, but I also caused inconvenience to the agency CEO. Most people support you without saying anything," expressing his gratitude.
