Actor Ahn Hyo Seop walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards for the first time in his life.
On the 15th at 7 p.m. local time (8 a.m. on the 16th in Korea), the 98th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
That day, Ahn Hyo Seop appeared on the red carpet wearing a stylish black tuxedo. He attended at the official invitation of the Academy Awards, and, offering hand waves and posing in various ways, displayed a courteous attitude.
Earlier, Ahn Hyo Seop drew attention by voicing Jin-woo in the Netflix film K-Pop Demon Hunters, which was released in June last year.
That day, Kedeheon was nominated for best animated feature and best original song, and in the best animated feature category it beat strong competitor Zootopia 2 to take the trophy.
Director Maggie Kang, who went onstage, said, "I am grateful to the Academy and to those who brought us to this moment," and "I am sorry it took so long to make a film about protagonists who look like me. Now we don't have to wait for the next generation. This film is for Korea and Koreans around the world," and she delivered a tearful acceptance speech.
At this year's Academy Awards, Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice was not selected in the foreign language film category, so no Korean work was officially nominated, but the Netflix animation set in Korea, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and the Hollywood remake of the Korean film Save the Earth, titled Bugonia, among others, are receiving attention after being nominated in major categories.
Kedeheon is a strong contender not only in the best animated feature category but also in the best original song category, with the OST "Golden" being mentioned as a likely nominee. <
