Actor Kim Su-jin, who gave a passionate performance as 'Makdong Eomom' in the film The King's Warden, expressed gratitude to director Jang Hang-jun.

Kim Su-jin, moved, said of the score for The King's Warden, which surpassed 12 million viewers during filming and was a hit, "Everyone said they enjoyed it so much and that the aftertaste lingered, and they congratulated me. I had another project meeting, and they even prepared flowers, so I felt like I had done something remarkable."
She especially said of Yeongwol, the filming location that served as the movie's backdrop, "The region itself feels apologetic to Danjong and mourns him, and I learned that we didn't know that," expressing emotion. The actual filming location was built a few kilometers from Cheongryongpo, where boats pass, but it was regrettable that it was eventually dismantled in case the river overflowed during rain.
She also praised actors who appeared with her in The King's Warden, such as Yoo Hai Jin and Park Jihoon. She said, "I first met senior Yoo Hai Jin during 1987. I already had a sense of him and knew him well, and after seeing Park Jihoon's acting at the preview, I thought 'this will be a big hit,'" she said, creating a warm impression.
The scene that made Kim Su-jin cry the most while watching the film was the moment filled with Yoo Hai Jin's passionate acting when he said, "Am I also inside that?" Kim Su-jin said, "It was the point where Um Heung-do (played by Yoo Hai Jin) began to see a certain human duty that is right and must be kept," and emphasized, "Senior Yoo Hai Jin really acted well."
Meanwhile, just as Um Heung-do was an aide to Danjong, director Jang Hang-jun of The King's Warden was also the biggest supporter for Kim Su-jin. She revealed, "When my husband was sick, I personally called director Jang Hang-jun and poured out my heart. At that time the director even looked up information for me and always asked, 'Are you okay?' When something like that happens at home, a person becomes defensive, but he sincerely cared, and I'm still grateful," adding to the emotion.
Kim Su-jin said that her husband actually underwent major surgery and had been fighting an illness since 2022. She said, "From then on I brought three meals a day timed to the hospital schedule. I do it less these days, but the act of 'feeding' seems like the best thing I can do for someone I love."
The King's Warden is a drama set in 1457 at Cheongryongpo that tells the story of a village head who chose exile for the sake of the village's revival and a young dethroned former king who was exiled. On the 15th at about 9 a.m., it newly set a box office record by surpassing 13 million cumulative viewers.
