The film Inside Men returns as a three-part series after 10 years.
On the 16th, production company Hive Media Corporation said Inside Men, which recorded the highest audience for an adult-only film in history, will be remade as a film.
Inside Men is a work that depicts the beginnings of the "Inside Men" within a vast cartel born of the press, capital and power in the late 1980s. Including the director's cut released in 2015, it recorded a cumulative audience of 9,156,925, becoming the highest-grossing Korean adult-only film in history. It also won awards including best film, screenplay and planning at the 53rd Daejong Film Awards and best film at the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards, achieving success in both critical acclaim and box office.
This Inside Men will be remade into a three-part film series. The newly produced three-part Inside Men will be directed by Kim Min-beom, who served as assistant director on 12.12: The Day and The Flu, and Kim Jin-seok, who adapted the Disney+ original series Made In Korea and served as assistant director on Harbin, The Man Standing Next and Veteran. The screenplay will be written by writer Lee Ki-cheol, who wrote The Thieves, Assassination and Harbin, and the adaptation will be by writer Kim Hyo-seok of YADANG: The Snitch, promising overwhelming immersion with a flawless story and fast-paced development.
Production company Hive Media Corporation entered preproduction for Inside Men last year and has been preparing for full-scale production. Parts 1 and 2 are scheduled to be filmed simultaneously this year, and part 3 is planned for filming next year. Filming is expected to begin in the first half of this year as soon as the main casting is finalized.
Hive Media Corporation has previously presented bold works that combine entertainment and artistic merit based on sharp insight into the times through Inside Men as well as 12.12: The Day, Harbin, Deliver Us from Evil, The Man Standing Next, and the Disney+ original series Made In Korea.
Additionally, SLL, which has produced well-made content across screen, OTT and TV including the 10-million-audience film The Outlaws series, the Netflix original series All of Us Are Dead, and the drama Reborn Rich, is participating as a co-producer.
