Hollywood costume designer Jean-Pierre Dorleac has sparked controversy by naming the "worst stars" among the actors he worked with in the past.
On the 14th (local time), according to U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six, Dorleac recently claimed in an interview with the British outlet Daily Mail that actors Kirstie Alley, Shannon Doherty and Patrick Macnee were difficult to work with.
First, he recalled of Kirstie Alley, "She was very rough and rude and was always late." Dorleac revealed anecdotes from the time Alley appeared in a drama shoot.
He said, "Alley drank a lot, sweated profusely, and did not take proper care of her costumes," and added, "She played a travel agency employee, and we had to keep washing her costumes before filming."
He also said there was an incident just before filming when Alley ate a donut and ruined a costume. Dorleac said, "I made a $350 pearl-colored angora dress, and three minutes before filming she ate a large chocolate donut and dropped chocolate on the front of the dress," adding, "The chocolate spread from her chest to her navel, so we had to throw the dress away."
He said, "This happened more than once," and added, "Alley kept gaining weight and was always rude." Alley had long publicly struggled with weight issues and died in 2022 at the age of 71.
Dorleac also gave a negative assessment of Shannon Doherty, with whom he worked on the 1994 TV movie "Burning Fashion."
He said that when he dressed Doherty in a blue suit, her eye color looked very beautiful, and Doherty replied, "That's right." But during later filming he noticed her eye color constantly changing and when he asked why, he said she reacted harshly with strong profanity.
Dorleac claimed, "Doherty complained, 'I hate this movie. I don't want to play this role.'" He also alleged that Doherty was in conflict with the producer and intentionally changed her eye color to disrupt filming.
He said, "Doherty looked very unhappy. She was always smoking and hardly ate, so she was very thin," and added, "She was someone who used strong profanity." Doherty died in 2024 at the age of 53 after battling cancer.
Dorleac also revealed a shocking incident involving actor Patrick Macnee. He alleged that while fitting Macnee's costume during a 1978 drama shoot, he was subjected to inappropriate behavior.
Dorleac claimed, "Macnee began to take off his clothes and approached me," saying, "He pulled down his underwear and behaved inappropriately, asking me to join him." He said he refused and that the situation ended when a tailor came in.
He added that Macnee was very angry afterward and that shortly after, his costume was reportedly damaged with scissors by an unidentified person. He said the production ultimately had to spend about $6,000 to make a new costume.
Meanwhile, Kirstie Alley and Shannon Doherty's bereaved families did not issue separate statements regarding Dorleac's revelations, and Macnee's side was reportedly unreachable.
