Singer Lee Sora openly talked about the difficult times she experienced during a long hiatus.
On the 15th a video titled "Sora, today there's no editing, ooak?" was posted on the YouTube channel "Yojung Jae-hyung." In that day's content "Yojung table," Lee Sora appeared as a guest and shared her recent condition and stories from the hiatus, drawing fans' attention.
Lee Sora recently reengaged in musical activities after about two years by participating in the lyrics and vocals for the OST of the drama The Atypical Family, for which Jung Jae-hyung served as music director. In fact, that start was not easy.
Recalling that time, Lee Sora made a startling confession, saying, "Back then I spent long stretches lying at home doing nothing. I was so depressed I didn't even play games," and said, "I couldn't even listen to songs, but when I heard the track Jung Jae-hyung sent me it felt as if light was shining," adding, "After hearing that song I told my younger sibling, 'Now I'll listen to songs and try writing lyrics,' and my sibling was surprised." That shows how difficult a time she was going through.
Lee Sora, who said life during the hiatus was not easy, made a shocking confession: "During that period I hardly went outside. Riding the elevator down to the bottom of the apartment building happened maybe once a year, if that," and added, "I only went out when I had performances, and spent most of the remaining time at home," surprising everyone. It turned out the reason she stopped activities was a vocal cord injury. Lee Sora said, "After injuring my throat I thought I might not be able to sing. I was so sad to learn I had damaged my vocal cords," and her health reportedly worsened significantly. She said, "At the time my weight rose to about 100kg and when I went to the hospital my blood pressure was over 190," and described the situation: "I was short of breath and even walking properly was difficult." She also said she lost a lot of weight over the following year.
Still, Lee Sora wanted to try that song and thus participated in the OST. The recording process was not easy either. Jung Jae-hyung said, "She sang for about an hour and I kept saying, 'Let's stop now,'" and explained, "Although she became motivated after singing for the first time in a long while, her throat was not in good condition and I judged she couldn't push herself further." He added, "So the recording was effectively completed in a single take," and expressed gratitude, saying, "Jae-hyung made accommodations so I could record comfortably," and, "We worked in a small studio near home."
Having come back to singing after a difficult time, Lee Sora evoked empathy from many with her candid confessions.
