'Shin I-rang law office' Yoo Yeon-seok captivated viewers with a thrilling, satisfying performance.
On the 14th episode aired on SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Shin I-rang law office' (directed by Shin Joong-hoon, written by Kim Ga-young·Kang Cheol-gyu, produced by StudioS·Mongjakso), in episode 2 Yoo Yeon-seok played the ghost-seeing lawyer 'Shin I-rang'. That day he teamed up with his first ghost client Lee Kang-pung ( Heo Sung-tae) and succeeded in having the suspect detained, achieving his first victory.
I-rang performed an exorcism to send him away after Lee Kang-pung caused a disturbance in court due to possession. But when he learned that Kang-pung's daughter was sick, he ultimately decided to help him. I-rang met a nurse who had been paid by the suspect responsible for the medical accident to stay silent and, with sincere persuasion, won her back; he also learned of the existence of a decisive clue to solving the case.
Tracing the clue, I-rang infiltrated a drug den run by gang members. He narrowly escaped the gangsters and, inside the boss's car, found a hard drive containing hospital records as well as drugs. But when the opposing lawyer Hanna-hyun (Esom) arrived to destroy the evidence and found herself in danger, I-rang dashed back to the den; injured and in a perilous moment, he became possessed by Kang-pung and literally transformed into a "gangster lawyer," displaying coarse regional dialect and rough charisma as he quickly subdued the gangsters.
Yoo Yeon-seok showcased the character's extreme, contrasting sides and delivered a varied performance. Unlike his cowering, terrified appearance in crisis, when possessed he performed action with a 180-degree shift in atmosphere, offering twists and an exhilarating thrill. Also, his warm voice toward those in hardship and the tender look he gave when sending ghosts away conveyed I-rang's sincere heart and left a deep impression. Interest is focused on Yoo Yeon-seok's performance in 'Shin I-rang law office,' which raised expectations with an ending that foreshadowed meeting another ghost client.
