Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju, after a long struggle with infertility, said she saw two lines on a pregnancy test but that a hospital exam failed to detect a gestational sac, expressing her regret.
On the 14th, a video titled "After the day that looked like two lines.. the story I heard at the hospital today" was posted on the YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong."
In the video, Seo Dong-ju said, "I went to the hospital on day 21 after embryo transfer," and began cautiously, "Very regrettably, the gestational sac was not confirmed." He said, "The hormone level rose to 1,144, so I thought the doubling had barely succeeded, but the gestational sac was not visible on the ultrasound," revealing his conflicted feelings.
She then relayed the attending doctor's opinion. Seo Dong-ju said, "According to the professor, it could be a late implantation, but he said he had not seen many cases where this proceeded normally," and added, "The nuance was that having hope might instead be a waste of time."
She said they will monitor the situation for about another week. She said, "I cried, but I have become somewhat composed," and added, "I'm sorry I cannot bring good news. I would appreciate it if you could pray for me a little longer," and ultimately showed tears.
Earlier, on the 12th, Seo Dong-ju had revealed on her YouTube and social media that two lines appeared on a pregnancy test, indicating the possibility of pregnancy. She explained, "I was in a state of extreme poor ovarian response, so I spent two years only retrieving eggs, and finally had the first transfer."
She continued, "We did a frozen transfer of one day-3 embryo and two day-4 embryos, and on day seven I saw faint two lines on the pregnancy test like a 'magic eye,'" conveying her excitement at the time.
But she admitted she was worried from the start. Seo Dong-ju said, "The hCG level was very low on the first blood test, and subsequent tests did not rise as much as expected, so I worried it might be a chemical pregnancy."
However, the levels rose gradually in later tests. She explained, "In the fourth blood test the level miraculously exceeded 100, and the attending doctor said there was room to observe a little longer."
Seo Dong-ju said, "I will have another blood test this Saturday," and added, "I desperately hope to hear at least some good news. Please pray for me."
Many netizens have sent messages of support after the pregnancy news she shared following long infertility treatment, and the news that the gestational sac has not yet been confirmed has added to the sadness.
