Actor Kim Nam-gil candidly expressed his burden about playing Grand Prince Suyang in his next project.
On the 14th, a video titled "100 minutes talk is an excuse" was released on the YouTube channel Tteun-tteun. In the video, to mark the 100th episode special, Kim Nam-gil, Ju Jihoon and Yoon Kyung-ho appeared and continued a long talk.
That day Kim Nam-gil brought up his next project. He said he is preparing the film "Mongyudowondo" with Park Bo Gum. Kim Nam-gil explained, "Right now, because of director Jang Hang-jun's "The King's Warden," it's becoming an issue together," and "I am playing the role of King Sejo there."
He added, "In our film, Danjong also appears and Bogum plays Prince Anpyeong," expressing anticipation for the work.
However, he also honestly shared his concerns about the Grand Prince Suyang character. Kim Nam-gil said, "In 'Mongyudowondo' I tried not to objectify Grand Prince Suyang, but 'The King's Warden' wiped all that away," which drew laughter. He added, "Rather than the result of the film, it's somewhat because they are similar stories and share a world view, so there is that aspect."
Hearing this, Yu Jae-seok empathized with Kim Nam-gil's worry. Yu Jae-seok explained, "Nam-gil has a character of King Sejo he wants to portray, but because 'The King's Warden' did well earlier, it seems he is worried about the gap between the Sejo image audiences feel and the character he wants to express."
The talk naturally moved to the film "The King's Warden." Yoon Kyung-ho recounted an episode with Yoo Ji-tae, who plays Han Myung-hoe in the film, which drew laughter.
Yoon Kyung-ho said, "I saw hyung Yoo Ji-tae at the shop this morning. I was so glad I grabbed his shoulder," and "Actually we're not that close, but the film was so fun I started repeating lines like 'Keep hitting until you die,'" he said. He added, "But there were priests putting on makeup next to us," which elicited laughter.
When Ju Jihoon said, "He probably doesn't like that very much, does he?" Yoon Kyung-ho admitted, "That's right. I feel very sorry now," making the scene burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, the film "Mongyudowondo" is a work that depicts the story of brothers Grand Prince Suyang and Prince Anpyeong, who come to dream different ideals around the painting "Mongyudowondo," which portrays an ideal world in a dream.
