'I am SOLO' the 10 cast members who made headlines gathered at 'Solo Guesthouse' to find new love.
The episode of SBS Plus and ENA's 'I am SOLO, love continues after that' (hereinafter 'NaSolSaGye') broadcast on Thursday the 12th captured the scene where the fifth 'one more special' begins at the 'Solo Guesthouse' set up in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. According to Nielsen Korea's tally, the broadcast recorded an average rating of 2.8% (SBS Plus·ENA combined figure based on national cable households), and the peak minute rating rose as high as 3.23%. It also roared to first place overall with a 1.14% rating in the show's target demographic of men and women 20-49. The "best minute" was the scene after self-introductions when the solo men gathered and shared their inner thoughts.
The first solo man to appear was 13th generation Sangcheol, an acupuncturist often called a "pretty boy." He appeared with a sharper jawline and said in an interview with the production team, "We decided to remain good friends. After 'I am SOLO' I was just busy with work and had no chance to meet someone of the opposite sex. I'm turning 38 soon, so I'm more desperate than I was during 'SoloCountry,'" referring to becoming a final couple with Oksun of the 13th generation on 'SoloCountry.' Next, 15th generation Youngcheol, who gives off a "macho" vibe, visited 'Solo Guesthouse.' He became a final couple with Yeongsuk of the 15th generation but said, "There were parts where we didn't match, so the relationship couldn't develop. This time I'll work harder and do my best," expressing his resolve.
The appearance of 18th generation Youngho, a "veteran" who had appeared on both 'SoloCountry' and 'Solo Guesthouse,' surprised everyone. On 'SoloCountry' he was a couple with Jeongsuk of the 18th generation, and on 'Solo Guesthouse' he was a couple with Jeongsuk of the 15th generation. Asked by the production team if he seemed to like the "Jeongsuk type," he said, "In the past I liked a demure image, but now I'm also attracted to a cute puppy type. I returned to the show because this is a place where I can be in a state to give my whole heart (to a relationship), so I came back to devote myself sincerely."
20th generation Youngsik, who gained popularity as the "original tofu face," also showed up after about two years. He had been a final couple with Hyunsuk of the 20th generation and said, "I lost about 10kg through exercise. I actually met Hyunsuk of the 20th generation but we weren't meant to be, so we broke up. This time, rather than focusing too much on one person, I want to get to know people broadly," he said with a smile. Finally, 27th generation Youngcheol appeared in a dandy style. He, who had attracted attention as a "true-love straight-forward man" toward Jeongsuk of the 27th generation, said, "I was so sincere back then that I think I was almost the male villain. I want to be genuine and meet a good person. However, this time I will not act on the mistaken assumption alone that someone's kindness is romantic interest; I will think more carefully and proceed," showing his firm determination.
With these five solo men in place, 17th generation Sunja among the solo women entered first.
Having previously been on 'Solo Guesthouse,' she said of returning after a year, "I will treat this as my last time and be more honest." But when she ran into 18th generation Youngho, a "former maybe boyfriend," who was sitting in the 'Solo Guesthouse,' 17th generation Sunja was flustered and told the production team, "(18th generation Youngho) feels like an older brother. I'll exclude him from my list of potential partners," drawing a line. Next, 24th generation Sunja, a "vegetarian," appeared. In an interview with the production team 24th generation Sunja said, "After 'I am SOLO' there were cases where people felt barriers because I'm a vegetarian or felt burdened because I was on TV, so only people I was getting to know remained." About 24th generation Gwangsu, who had been her final partner, she said, "We got to know each other a bit but it fizzled out. I'll do my best here with no regrets." In particular, she pointed to 20th generation Youngsik as the man she wanted to meet at 'Solo Guesthouse,' and when he appeared as if fate and offered to carry her suitcase, she couldn't hide her "heart-eyes." 24th generation Sunja told the production team, "This is a big problem. I'm a woman who only knows how to go straight for someone~," foreshadowing her forwardness.
25th generation Sunja also appeared in a white coat with a refreshing smile that stole the spotlight. She, who had been a couple with Sangcheol of the 25th generation on 'SoloCountry,' showed a changed mindset, saying, "We got to know each other in real life too, but I guess it wasn't fate. This time I want to talk to more people and choose carefully." 25th generation Youngja, who made headlines as the "pearl goddess," entered 'Solo Guesthouse' escorted by her father. Showing a pure visual with long hair, she said, "After the show I took time to reflect on myself. This time I want to get to know people carefully and convey my sincerity." Immediately afterward she showed sweetness by giving hot packs to not only the men in 'Solo Guesthouse' but also the women. Finally, 27th generation Hyunsuk appeared in a calm beige coat, unlike her flashy past fashion. Regarding this, she said, "The floral dress I wore on 'I am SOLO' was shocking even to me. I thought, 'I need to change,' and I think I threw away three or four big garbage bags of clothes. This time I'll work so hard there won't be time to sit on my butt," she pledged.
With 10 cast members gathered, the solo men and women went to their respective rooms and shared their feelings with one another. 17th generation Sunja said, "All the men were really fine," 25th generation Sunja said, "Is today a handsome men special?", and 27th generation Hyunsuk also laughed, "Following our generation it feels like another visual special. I'm blessed." 18th generation Youngho told the solo men in the men's room, "When the women came in I observed their pupils and I think they'll focus a bit on 20th generation Youngsik," making the guess. 18th generation Youngho, who said he observed the women's pupils to judge first impression attraction, emphasized, "My feeling is almost right." 15th generation Youngcheol asked 20th generation Youngsik, "What's your ideal type?" 20th generation Youngsik answered, "A juicy-peach face? I like someone who gives a good, kind feeling like actress Park Eunbin."
18th generation Youngho suggested, "Then let's each share who our picks are," and 15th generation Youngcheol confessed, "Actually I saw the women once each in private. They know me so my motivation dropped a bit. If I had to pick, 25th generation Youngja?" 13th generation Sangcheol agreed, "Me too," and 20th generation Youngsik revealed, "At first I said 17th generation Sunja, but after getting a hot pack I thought of 25th generation Youngja." 18th generation Youngho added, "I also like that person, but in the interview I said I want to get to know 25th generation Sunja first." 27th generation Sangcheol also said, "Me too, 25th generation Youngja!" revealing that all five men had 25th generation Youngja in mind. In the women's room, 20th generation Youngsik became the hot topic.
24th generation Sunja said, "Actually the only person among the 'I am SOLO' cast I sent a DM to was 20th generation Youngsik. When I briefly did YouTube, I contacted him under the pretext of casting, but we didn't meet," she revealed. 17th generation Sunja said, "I also mentioned 20th generation Youngsik as an attractive man in an interview, but I said I'd look into 27th generation Youngcheol first," she said. In response, 25th generation Sunja showed a sense of crisis, saying, "It's 4-to-1 right now (with everyone focused on 20th generation Youngsik). Aren't the women all going to eat jajangmyeon together?"
The high-speed romances of the veterans who visited 'Solo Guesthouse' continue on Thursday the 19th at 10:30 p.m. on SBS Plus and ENA in 'I am SOLO, love continues after that'.<
