A former member of the group Roolla, Ko Young-wook, is facing controversy after posting a message referring to broadcaster MC Dingdong and actor Lee Jae-ryong that suggested the world is only harsh toward him.
On the 13th, Ko Young-wook shared an article related to MC Dingdong, who has been embroiled in allegations of assaulting a female BJ, on his social media and wrote, "Even this lowlife openly participates in social activities… what are this society's standards?"
He went on to mention scenes of actor Lee Jae-ryong appearing on the YouTube entertainment show "Zzanbro," who is currently under police investigation for a recent drunk driving accident, adding, "They're so lenient like this while only toward me…" The remark is interpreted as comparing his own situation to those who caused social controversy but are still active.
MC Dingdong, whom Ko Young-wook mentioned, has recently been embroiled in controversy after allegations that he assaulted a female BJ during an online live broadcast by grabbing her hair. It has also been alleged that during that broadcast, when the victim BJ mentioned MC Dingdong's prior drunk driving record, he became enraged and used violence. MC Dingdong was previously caught by police in 2022 driving in an extremely intoxicated state; he later fled and was tried, receiving a 1 year and 6 month prison sentence with a 2-year suspension.
Actor Lee Jae-ryong, another person mentioned, has also come under scrutiny after a recent drunk driving incident. On the night of the 6th, Lee Jae-ryong is accused of driving under the influence near Samseongjungang Station on Seoul Subway Line 9, crashing into a center divider and leaving the scene. He has since acknowledged the drunk driving and is under police investigation. He is reported to have a prior record of being caught for drunk driving.
Meanwhile, Ko Young-wook was sentenced in 2013 to 2 years and 6 months in prison for sexual assault and forcible molestation against a minor and served his sentence. Although he was released, his broadcasting activities have been effectively halted due to his sex crime record.
