The U.S.-origin girl group the Pussycat Dolls has officially reunited for a world tour for the first time in 17 years.
According to U.S. outlet Variety on the 12th (local time), the Pussycat Dolls have been reorganized as a three-member girl group consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt and will embark on a world tour across North America, the U.K. and Europe starting in June.
The three members appeared on Britain's Heart Radio on the 11th and officially announced their reunion, saying, "we are back," and saying, "we missed the members and missed touring."
Their reunion commemorative "PCD Forever" tour will have a total of 53 shows and will open on June 5 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.
Earlier, the Pussycat Dolls released a new single, "Club Song," their first release of music in six years since 'React' in 2019. Scherzinger co-wrote the song, and it has been praised for carrying on the vibe of the hits "Don't Cha" and "Buttons."
Meanwhile, the Pussycat Dolls, who debuted in 2004 as a six-member group, are counted among the greatest girl groups of all time alongside the Spice Girls, Destiny's Child and TLC. The original members were Nicole Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Carmit Bachar.
However, they experienced several disputes, and the team was shaken by the 2010 departures of Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton. After the breakup a second lineup was formed but activities were minimal, and in 2019 the Pussycat Dolls announced a reunion as a five-member group excluding Melody Thornton from the original lineup.
But the group suffered the pain of tour cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and conflicts among members over how to cancel the tour were exposed at the time, though Scherzinger has reunited with the members once again.
