Comedian Kim Young-chul shared recent news that he experienced a pickpocketing incident in London, England.
On the 13th, Kim Young-chul released a video on his YouTube channel titled "Kim Young-chul who actually experienced the pickpocketing people only talked about right in front of his eyes (the reality of public safety in the U.K.)".
In the video, Kim Young-chul said he had started a "one-week stay" in London and confessed, "British-style English is difficult, the weather is fickle, the exchange rate is high… there are too many pickpockets."
He then set off on an impromptu trip to Oxford with a Korean younger he met during language study abroad. When a round-trip train ticket came out to about 140,000 won, Kim Young-chul showed a warm side, saying, "I'm about my nephews' age, so I'll pay for the ticket."
But after finishing a meal at a restaurant and just as they were getting up from their seats, the accompanying student's bag disappeared. The bag had been pickpocketed while they were eating. Kim Young-chul recounted the situation, saying, "My honorary Brit Jin-kyung told me to watch out for pickpockets, and I was shocked to hear there are many thieves and pickpockets."
Fortunately, about 30 minutes later the restaurant contacted them and the bag was found. It turned out there was nothing worth taking in the bag, so the perpetrator left it at the restaurant. Kim Young-chul said, "This is a crazy story today," and expressed relief that the pickpocketing incident ended up being just a mishap.
After returning to London, Kim Young-chul tried to have dinner but every restaurant was full, and he showed signs of exhaustion, saying, "I was politely turned away. I'm so hungry I feel like crying. Challenges after turning 50 are always hard." He added, "If I could go back to my 20s or 30s, I would regret not having gone on a language study abroad," and "I want to fill my life more with studying and travel from now on."
