TWS won the "Asia's best rookie" trophy at a prestigious Japanese awards ceremony.
On the 12th, according to HYBE Music Group label PLEDIS Entertainment Co., TWS (Shin Yu, Dohun, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, Kyungmin) won the "New Artist of the Year (Asia)" and "Best 3 New Artists (Asia)" categories at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards.
TWS said, "We are grateful to receive such an honorable award. Thanks to 42 (the fandom name) who support us," adding, "We will do our best so that many people can enjoy TWS's music this year as well."
The Japan Gold Disc Awards is an awards ceremony organized by the Recording Industry Association of Japan to honor artists and works that have contributed to the development of the music industry; winners and winning works are selected based on sales of records and music videos, streaming and download figures over the past year. The "Best 3 New Artists (Asia)" for which TWS was named is given to the top three new artist acts from Asia excluding Japan, and the "New Artist of the Year (Asia)" is awarded to the group among them with the highest sales.
Since debuting in Japan in July last year, TWS caused a strong sensation. Their debut single "Nice to see you again (original title はじめまして/はじめまして)" swept major weekly charts on Oricon and Billboard Japan in its first week, achieving a total of four crowns, and exceeded 250,000 cumulative album shipments to receive the Japan Record Association's Gold Disc "Platinum" certification. Based on these achievements, TWS ranked second, the highest among foreign artists, in the "New artist ranking" of the Oricon annual ranking 2025.
TWS did not stop at record-breaking success and performed on various stages. They held their first Japan fan meeting, "2025 TWS 1st fanmeeting <42:CLUB> in Japan," and their first tour, "2025 TWS TOUR '24/7:WITH:US' in Japan," passionately engaging with a total of 80,000 fans. They also appeared at major music festivals such as "Rock in Japan Festival 2025," "Countdown Japan 25/26," and Fuji TV's year-end special program "2025 FNS Music Festival."
Meanwhile, TWS will hold their second fan meeting, "2026 TWS 2nd fanmeeting <42:CLUB> in Seoul," at Ticketlink Live Arena (formerly the handball gym) in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul from the 27th to the 29th. On the 8th and 9th of next month they will head to Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, to continue their Japan fan meetings.
