The group P1Harmony (P1Harmony) is coming back with UNIQUE.
P1Harmony (Kiho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, Jongseop) will release all tracks from mini album No. 9 UNIQUE and the music video for the title track of the same name on various music platforms at 6 p.m. today (the 12th).
UNIQUE is an album that depicts the journey of hero P1Harmony, who declared a strike in their previous work, returning to being heroes. The album includes six tracks in total: the title track "UNIQUE," "Pandemonium," "L.O.Y.L.," "Wednesday Girl," "Triple 7," and "ICE (VVS)."
The title track "UNIQUE" is a song notable for its intense sound characteristic of Brazilian funk and its heavy drum beat. It unabashedly showcases the crew's overflowing confidence and conveys P1Harmony's dynamic energy through a strong message of solidarity that nothing is to be feared when together. In particular, members participated in the production of all tracks on this album as well, completing a distinct and individual musical color of their own.
The following are the Q&A about mini album No. 9 UNIQUE directly provided by P1Harmony.
Q. How do you feel about returning to Korea after 10 months?
Kiho: After successfully finishing our third world tour, I think I'm even more excited to release an album. I'm very curious how Peace (the fandom name) will enjoy it, and I can't wait to show the stage as soon as possible.
Theo: I still vividly remember the 'DUH!' activities, but while doing the world tour time seemed to fly by. Since it's been a while since our domestic comeback, I hope many people will like the new album.
Jiung: I feel like it's finally happening. I'm full of anticipation because I think we can once again show P1Harmony's deep color.
Intak: I'm very excited because it's an album we've prepared and are showing after a long time. Since we prepared hard for this album, I think a great result came out. You can look forward to it.
Soul: After finishing the world tour encore concert, we're coming back after a long time, and I hope this promotion will be fun and make good memories.
Jongseop: Since it's been a while since our domestic comeback, we put extra effort into preparing the album's quality. I hope Peace listens a lot.
Q. The trailer that hinted at a "hero return" drew attention. If there is a point of appreciation for this album, what would it be?
Kiho: Musically and conceptually, we captured a newer, more intense and fresh side of P1Harmony than before. We paid a lot of attention to the included tracks as well, and I hope you listen to the whole album.
Jiung: The music video fully depicts the heroes returning. If you watch it with the focus on the literal "hero return," I think you'll enjoy it even more.
Intak: As the album title is "UNIQUE," it contains many truly unique and diverse sounds. I hope you listen while feeling the charm of each track with strong individuality.
Q. Please introduce the title track "UNIQUE."
Jiung: It's a rhythmically catchy song, so I think many people will naturally nod along. The performance is equally intense and attractive, so I hope you watch the stage as well.
Soul: For this song's performance, we worked with dancers, so stepping away from a stage with only the six of us will allow us to show a fuller and cooler performance.
Jongseop: Brazilian funk is a genre we tried for the first time. We thought a lot about how to showcase something new while preserving the genre's characteristics. Since the song carries confidence as its main message, we tried to infuse that atmosphere into the lyrics as well, so I hope you pay attention to that part.
Q. Besides the title track, is there a song you would recommend?
Theo: I want to recommend the track "L.O.Y.L." The song's mood changes rapidly, giving it a mysterious charm, and since it's a style and composition we've never shown before, it may feel fresh to listeners.
Jiung: I recommend "Pandemonium." The sound and flow of the song are unique, and I think if you hear it at a concert you'll want to jump and play along naturally.
Intak: I recommend "Triple 7"! It grabs your attention from the introduction, and the song is really exciting, so it would be great to listen to while working out.
Jongseop: I recommend "ICE (VVS)." Personally, I think it would be really fun to perform at concerts, and it's a song I want to enjoy together with fans.
Q. The members participated in songwriting for this album as well. What aspects did you focus on while working?
Kiho: I paid a lot of attention from the tracklist to song selection, wanting the album's musical composition to flow smoothly. Although we tried diverse genres, we focused on making them connect naturally like a single work.
Jiung: We included songs with a new feel and focused on blending them well with P1Harmony's color. We tried to balance freshness and familiarity.
Intak: Since the sounds have strong personalities, I thought the topline should also show strong individuality. I've always shown new and unique rap, but this time I approached it even more distinctively, so I focused on those aspects in my work.
Jongseop: I structured the album by concentrating on finding new sounds and genres and things we hadn't tried before. If we broaden P1Harmony's musical spectrum, I think we'll be able to handle any kind of music well in the future.
Q. Are there any memorable episodes while preparing the album?
Kiho: During the jacket shoot, there was a concept that was more pared down than previous intense and glamorous looks. I paid a lot of attention to facial acting and expressive physicality, and I remember worrying about how to express that well on set.
Jiung: In the music video there's a scene where I'm on a motorcycle up in the air, and I had to wear wires and act on the motorcycle. I remember struggling with how to create new poses and acting while filming.
Soul: I remember wearing awakening-concept costumes with art pieces during the music video shoot. We also applied packs to the body to make us look like robots in the styling, which gave a unique and fresh feel, and I liked that.
Jongseop: This music video was filmed mostly as individual cuts, so it was a somewhat different process from past music video shoots. The scene filmed on the water is the most memorable.
Q. What goals do you want to achieve through this promotion, or what reactions would you like to hear?
Kiho: As P1Harmony has steadily grown, I would like us to be called by the moniker "Underdog." It has the meaning of quietly coming up from behind. It means "we've worked hard so far, and from now on only the road up remains," so I think it's good.
Theo: I hope there are many moments where we can feel the same emotions as Peace and make happy memories. I want to share those moments together and have a good time.
Jiung: I want to hear reactions like "we see heroes taking another leap." It would be satisfying to have good results on music shows or chart rankings. Even if not, I'd be satisfied if more people come to know P1Harmony.
Intak: If possible, I want to renew the number of first-place wins on music shows. If many people love the stages and music we prepared and that results in meaningful records, I would be truly grateful and happy.
Soul: I hope the reaction is "the leveled-up P1Harmony has arrived." Also, I hope everyone finishes activities in good health.
Jongseop: I want to aim to enter the top five of the Billboard 200. I also want to show that P1Harmony is a group that constantly repeats new attempts and challenges.
Q. A word to Peace who waited for the comeback.
