Actor Park Seoham gave thanks to viewers ahead of the final episode of tvN's Wednesday-Thursday drama Our Universe.
In today's (12th) finale of Our Universe, Park Seoham played Park Yun-seong, the youngest head of team at BS Food who has both ability and looks, and who engages in a rivalry with Seon Tae-hyung (Bae In Hyuk) over his first love Woo Hyun-jin (Roh Jeong-Eui).
Park Yun-seong's firmness, described by everyone as "perfect," and his devoted love for Hyun-jin were conveyed through Park Seoham's restrained emotional expression and delicate eye acting, allowing viewers to feel different charms and increasing immersion in the drama. In particular, Yun-seong's kindness shown in episodes from their college days and in scenes where he lovingly cares for Woo Ju (Park Yu-ho) evoked the "flutter of first love" and moved viewers' hearts.
Having shown a new side by taking on his first historical drama in the Disney+ original drama The Murky Stream, Park Seoham once again proved his limitless potential through Our Universe, raising expectations and interest in his future activities.
The following is the full Q&A of the remarks Park Seoham personally delivered about the series' ending.
Q. The final episode of Our Universe is about to air. Please share your thoughts on the series ending.
I spent about a year with Park Yun-seong, including the preparation period before filming began. I vividly remember introducing Our Universe as a lovely drama ahead of the first broadcast, and it still doesn't feel real that it's already the last episode. I am truly grateful to all the staff, fellow actors and viewers who were part of Our Universe!
Q. Did you pay special attention to anything externally or internally to portray the character Park Yun-seong?
Even before filming, the staff told me that Yun-seong had to be a truly "cool" person, and my biggest concern was how to express the coolness everyone imagined about Park Yun-seong. I had many discussions with the director to capture not only his external aspects but also Yun-seong's inner self. During filming, I exchanged opinions with the director and paid a lot of attention to depicting Park Yun-seong's outward and inward solidity without excess.
Q. Park Yun-seong's "straightforward romance" became a hot topic. What do you think is the character's biggest charm?
I think his greatest charm is being honest and faithful to his feelings. After reuniting with his unfulfilled first love from the past, he confesses his heart and every moment summons the courage to convey his feelings in his own way, which I thought was very Yun-seong-like.
Q. How was the chemistry with the co-stars Roh Jeong-Eui and Bae In Hyuk, who formed the love triangle?
They were all actors with more experience than me, so I received a lot of help throughout filming and learned many things. Thanks to their always positive energy that brightened the set atmosphere, I was able to approach filming with a comfortable heart.
Q. If there is a scene that remains most memorable, please introduce it.
I remember Yun-seong's first appearance, which revealed his perfect and cool personality. I prepared thinking it was a scene that should show "this is what Park Yun-seong is like," from his cooking to the subsequent lines. The flashback scenes showing his past with Hyun-jin are also memorable. I think they are cute and lovely scenes where you can feel the freshness of college student Park Yun-seong, different from who he is now.
Q. We are curious about any filming episodes with Park Yu-ho, who played Woo Ju.
Because I had less time with Yu-ho compared with In Hyuk and Jeong Eui, it took more time to get close. At first I was worried because he seemed very unfamiliar when I approached him, and I heard children are often scared of tall people. So from then on I lowered my body a lot, gave gifts and made efforts in my own way. (Laughs) Later Yu-ho came to hug me first or fell asleep in my arms, and those moments made me really happy. Thanks to Yu-ho, the set was always full of love!
Q. Through this work, what new aspects did you discover as actor Park Seoham, or in what ways do you feel you have grown?
Because I still don't have much experience, everything is new. I was able to learn and feel many things through Our Universe and the character Park Yun-seong, and I think I should grow by showing even newer sides accordingly.
Q. Lastly, please say a word to the viewers of Our Universe.
Thank you sincerely for watching Our Universe and for all your interest and support. I will work hard to greet you with even better appearances in the future. Please stay with us until the final episode of Our Universe, and always be happy! Thank you.
Meanwhile, the final episode of Our Universe will air today (12th) at 10:40 p.m.
