Actor Park Sang-myeon returns to the theater stage after a long absence, appearing as the character "Heo Sang-man" in the play Pink Truck.
The play Pink Truck is an original work based on the work of director and writer Jang Hang-jun and is a new play that will run at Seoul Daehak-ro Starlit Hall from May 1 to 31. Director Jang Hang-jun recently became a first-time 10-million-audience director with the film The King's Warden.
'Pink Trok' is a human comedy that simultaneously captures both humane laughter and bitter reality, depicting a chaotic story in which people who were victims of fraud ride an adult product truck to chase the con artists.
At the center of the play is the strange companionship of three men whose lives have gone awry. Im Yong-go-si long-term examinee Bang Jeong-sik, who lost his marriage fund to fraud; middle-aged man Heo Sang-man, who endures in anger after being scammed; and former pastor Park Gi-wang, whose faith has been broken, set out on a journey riding an adult product truck to chase the con artists, creating laughter and human solidarity.
In this production Park Sang-myeon will serve as the central axis of the play with his unique weighty presence and comic acting, offering the audience deep laughter and empathy.
Park Sang-myeon is an actor who has won great public affection by playing distinctive characters in numerous works such as the dramas drama Se Friends, Seoul 1945, More Beautiful Than Flowers, and the films Mafioso's Wife, Miracle in Cell No.7, and Number 3. He has been praised as "Korea's representative comic acting master" for his unique humane comedy and realistic acting.
Especially, Park Sang-myeon's slice-of-life comedy built up in films and dramas is expected to be an asset in this play as well. It tells the stories of people trying to get back up from the bottom of life with humor and warmth, delivering empathy amid laughter to the audience.
Pink Truck is attracting great interest also because it was created based on the original work of director Jang Hang-jun, whose film The King's Warden surpassed 10 million viewers. Director Jang Hang-jun, known for directing films such as Light the Lighter, Rebound, and Forgotten, which have been loved for their unique story structures and comedy genre, raises expectations for how his distinctive storytelling sense will be realized on the theater stage.
