Actor Park Jihoon released behind-the-scenes photos to celebrate The King's Warden surpassing 12 million admissions.
On the afternoon of the 11th, Park Jihoon's agency YY Entertainment posted on its official social media, saying "Lee Hong-wi & Park Jihoon during the Lee Hong-wi era" and "Thank you to the 12 million viewers" along with several photos.
The released photos show Park Jihoon during the filming of the movie The King's Warden. Park Jihoon, to portray the ill-fated king, the young Danjong, ate only half an apple and underwent extreme dieting, which made his distinct facial features stand out even more.
Earlier, ahead of the film's release, Park Jihoon told OSEN in an interview, "The dieting method was simple yet really difficult: I just didn't eat. Eating only a scrap of an apple meant I couldn't sleep and became debilitated. I wanted to capture that look well," and noted, "Rather than describing it as having lost weight, I wanted a higher-level expression, a gaunt, emaciated feeling. That shouldn't be achieved through exercise. So I just starved myself."
Meanwhile, that day The King's Warden surpassed 12 million cumulative admissions.
Distributor SHOWBOX posted on its official social media, "The box office king has emerged!! The King's Warden surpasses 12 million admissions," and said, "Thanks to the relentless support from audiences, Exhuma has continued success, and the film is recording the highest audience numbers for a Korean film in the past two years. We sincerely thank all the citizens who came to see The King's Warden," expressing gratitude.
The King's Warden exceeded 10 million on the 31st day after release, on the 6th, and has since consecutively surpassed 11 million and 12 million.
