The King's Warden first said, "Thank you for the enthusiastic interest you have shown for the box office appreciation stage greeting," and then noted, "However, we have confirmed signs of scalping transactions for the stage greeting taking place on 3/17 (Tue) on some social media and secondhand transaction sites."
That evening, on secondhand ticket sites, tickets for The King's Warden stage greeting taking place on the 17th were being sold for up to 700,000 won per ticket, causing shock. Considering the average price of a movie ticket for one adult is 15,000 won, that is nearly 50 times higher.
Accordingly, The King's Warden emphasized that buying tickets through illegal channels that are not designated sellers and scalping transactions that buy and sell tickets at prices higher than the original price are acts that undermine healthy theater-going culture, and urged audiences to refrain from scalping transactions and to report them to the integrated reporting site.
They also said that, out of concern that fandoms of the film and its cast could flock to the screenings to the point of creating scalped tickets, and for smooth screening times and safety, no separate in-seat events will be held.
The King's Warden is a work that depicts the story of 1457 Cheongnyeongpo, a village chief who volunteered for exile to revive the village, and a young deposed king exiled from the throne. Today (the 11th) it surpassed 12 million cumulative viewers, continuing its box office momentum.
