Jang Hang-jun director conveyed his first impression of The King's Warden's Park Jihoon.
On the afternoon of the 11th, Jang Hang-jun, director of the film The King's Warden, appeared on SBS' News Hunters and talked.
That day, Jang Hang-jun mentioned the actors he worked with and said, "First of all, Yoo Hai Jin is someone whose historical dramas do well at the box office. He looks like he was ripped out of a history book. When you look at history books, there is the face of a late Joseon militia leader. Were the original real Joseon people? The face of the Korean people," he said.
He continued, "To me, a script is print. It is writing created at a desk. I think an actor is someone who can make that print the most alive creature. He is someone who speaks his own words, so he is precisely the right person to play the village elder of Gwangcheongol," he praised.
Jang Hang-jun said, "The range of his acting covers when this caricatured situation passes and, at the end, the desire to protect the king. And because it goes to a tragic ending, there is no one better to carry this. From the start I thought Yoo Hai Jin was the right person. On set he showed surprisingly excellent acting," he said.
About Park Jihoon, who plays 'Danjong' Lee Hong-wi, Jang Hang-jun said, "I watched the drama and offered to meet him, but it seemed he wasn't thinking of doing something big. When he came out, he had gained weight like this. He gave off a slightly handsome Doraemon vibe," he said, revealing his first impression.
He added, "I wanted a sharp look, so it was a big problem; first I had to persuade him. I met him four times and on the fourth he said OK, but then said he had to lose weight. He lost weight in a very short time and couldn't even exercise," and laughed, "He lost weight purely through diet, eating two slices of apple while losing weight. He has deep eyes and an inner strength that actors in their 20s rarely have. I hope this person does very well with this and that someday I will benefit from it," he said with a laugh.
