Actor Son Naeun filled "Hotel Dokkaebi" with positive energy through her activities spanning the front desk, kitchen and outdoor activities.
Son Naeun perfectly transformed into a hotelier on MBC every1's variety show "Hotel Dokkaebi," which ended on the 10th, and wrapped up a magical six-night, seven-day journey by sharing Korea's warm hospitality with foreign guests every week.
"Hotel Dokkaebi" is a real variety show about the chaotic challenges of opening a hanok hotel in Jeju with the concept of "a hotel that opens for only one week and then disappears," featuring Son Naeun, Ko Doo-shim, Kwon Yul, Kim Dong-jun, Lee Dae Hwi and Jeon Seong-gon.
On the sixth day of operations, Son Naeun took part in a submarine activity where she could enjoy the mysteries of the Jeju sea. Son Naeun spent a healing time, repeatedly exclaiming in amazement at the fantastic scenery unfolding under the Jeju sea together with foreign guests.
Then Son Naeun dashed around the hotel from east to west, asserting her presence as the mascot of "Hotel Dokkaebi." As part of front desk duties, Son Naeun took charge of interpreting for foreign guests to help communication, and as a kitchen assistant she helped with cooking and took responsibility for foreign guests' palates. In particular, she approached a foreign guest having difficulty making kimbap and kindly explained, then showed her role as a mood maker with natural small talk.
Through "Hotel Dokkaebi," Son Naeun conveyed a familiar daily life with an unpretentious appearance. With a charm full of clumsy charm different from the glamorous image she has shown in works so far, she won viewers' hearts. With a sincere attitude, Son Naeun and her team navigated unexpected situations and shared a connection that transcended borders and language.
Showing tears at parting with the foreign guests, Son Naeun said, "On the contrary, I feel like I am returning having grown and developed more. I sometimes wondered, 'Will I become someone who is needed?' but I think I learned a lot and am taking it with me through 'Hotel Dokkaebi.'"
Meanwhile, Son Naeun will appear as Sang-a, an employee who works with Kim Bu-jang (played by So Jisub) and who keeps a secret, in SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Kim Bu-jang, scheduled to premiere in 2026.
