A woman accused of firing shots at pop star Rihanna's residence has been formally charged with attempted murder and could face life imprisonment.
On the 10th (local time), Page Six reported, "35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz appeared Tuesday in a Los Angeles court for a hearing for an arraignment and plea proceeding, court documents show."
According to the report, in addition to the attempted murder charge, she faces multiple charges, including nine counts of assault with a firearm, two counts of shooting at dwellings occupied by people, and one count of shooting at a vehicle.
She appeared in court wearing a blue jail uniform and was said to have had her blonde hair braided into two plaits. During the short hearing she did not enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. The next arraignment is scheduled for the 26th.
After the defendant's hearing, prosecutors said Ortiz could receive life in prison given the charges she faces. Ortiz is currently out on $1.8 million bond (about 264 million won) and has been ordered to stay away from Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky.
Ortiz was earlier arrested on the 8th at about 1:21 p.m. for attempted murder after allegedly firing 10 rounds toward Rihanna's California home. Rihanna lives in the house with her partner A$AP Rocky and their three children. Rihanna, her mother, the three children and staff were reportedly inside the house during the shooting.
The suspect fled southbound on Coldwater Canyon Drive immediately after the incident but was soon arrested by police who responded to the report.
