"Yumi's Cells" returns for season 3.
The Tving original series Yumi's Cells season 3, which will be released on Apr. 13 (directed by Lee Sang-yeop, written by Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran), released a teaser poster on the 11th featuring Kim Go-eun's radiant smile, who embodies "Yumi herself," raising excitement.
Yumi's Cells received great love for its novel attempt to combine live action and 3D animation, and Yumi's everyday life and love story, portrayed as ordinary but witty, realistic but cheerful, became a life drama that delivered excitement, laughter and empathy to many.
Back after three years, Yumi's Cells season 3 tells a cell-stimulating, relatable romance in which Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun), who has become a star writer, once again laughs, cries and falls in love because of an unexpected person who arrives like a bolt from the blue in her uneventful daily life. After achieving her dream of becoming a writer, Yumi's cell village, which had been calm with nothing thrilling, regains vitality through an unpredictable romance. Centered on Kim Go-eun, who played "Yumi herself," the addition of rising young actor Kim Jaewon and the reunion of trusted director Lee Sang-yeop with writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran add to the anticipation.
The teaser poster released amid high expectations catches the eye with Yumi's lovable, bright smile upon her return. The phrase "Long time no see, this feeling of my heart being soft" announces the start of a new story that will shake up Yumi's cell village again. The comeback of the lovable cells that only know Yumi — from the love cell that was a standout last season to the writer cell and the true-feeling, emotion and pride cells that cry and laugh with Yumi — adds to the delight. A new cell wearing a heart on its head and holding the number 3, symbolizing the third season, piques curiosity about what role it will play.
Kim Jaewon passionately plays Sun-rok, a PD at Julie Publishing's editorial department, who has a sweet face but delivers unflattering "truth bombs." A successful romance novelist, Sun-rok is Yumi's editor PD with a surprising charm and difficulty with love despite his success. Fans are already eager to see how Kim Go-eun and Kim Jaewon will portray this age-gap romance that makes hearts feel soft. The cast is further boosted by special appearances from Jun Suk-ho, Choi Daniel, Cho Hae-jung, Miram, Park Se-in, and veterans Seong Ji-ru, Yoon Yoo-sun and Lee Yoo-bi.
Yumi's Cells season 3 will be pre-released on Tving with two episodes every Monday at 6 p.m. starting Apr. 13, and will air on tvN every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. with one episode each night.
