Actor Son Dam-bi returns to her main profession after a seven-year hiatus.
On the 10th, OSEN reported that Son Dam-bi is currently filming a short-form drama.
Her acting comeback comes about seven years after KBS2's Dongbaekkkot Pil Mureup aired in 2019. Debuting as a singer with hits such as "Michyeosseo", "On Saturday Night", and "Queen", Son Dam-bi began balancing acting after appearing in SBS's Dream in 2009.
While continuing her singing career, Son Dam-bi appeared in the dramas "Light and Shadow", "A Touch of Love", "What Happens to My Family?", "Yumi's Room", "Mrs. Cop 2", and "The Witch's Court"; in Dongbaekkkot Pil Mureup she gave a powerful performance as Choi Hyang-mi and achieved a peak viewership rating of 23.8% (Nielsen Korea).
After Dongbaekkkot Pil Mureup, Son Dam-bi, who had a hiatus due to marriage to former speed skating national team member Lee Kyu-hyuk and childbirth, will return as an actor after seven years with a short-form drama and continue activities as a working mom.
Short-form drama has recently emerged as a new mainstream in the media market. Vertical videos optimized for smartphone screens and shocking episode lengths of about 1 to 5 minutes attract interest, and K-pop idols and well-known actors are joining in. Recently, Lee Sang-yeob–starring "A Stormy Married Life" and Park Han-Byul and Ko Joo-won–starring "The Cleaner's Second Marriage" have generated a lot of buzz.
Meanwhile, Son Dam-bi married Lee Kyu-hyuk in 2022 and has one daughter.
