"This is 'Close' requested by Moon Bo-kyung." WBC's lopsided win over Australia has baseball fans enjoying a festive atmosphere, and the link between Infinite Challenge and this game is receiving attention.
Broadcaster Jung jun-ha shared a scene from the past MBC variety show Infinite Challenge on his personal SNS on the 9th.
The scene was included in episode 61's "Broadcast station 24 hours" special of Infinite Challenge, which aired on July 14, 2007. At the time, members Yu Jae-seok, Park Myung Soo, Jung jun-ha, Jeong Hyung Don and No Hol-cheong visited singer Sung Si Kyung's radio booth, where he was hosting MBC late-night radio "Blue Night, this is Sung Si Kyung," and shared a moment of the live broadcast.
In particular, the Infinite Challenge team introduced the last listener's requested song. The requester, Moon Bo-kyung, had requested Mot's song "Close." But Jeong Hyung Don mistakenly said "Moon Bo-kyung's mot," drawing laughter.
Coincidentally, on the 9th Jung jun-ha revealed another Moon Bo-kyung performance — baseball player Moon Bo-kyung. In the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) first-round game between Korea and Australia at the Tokyo Dome that day, Moon Bo-kyung of the Korean national team recorded the final out to seal the victory.
With that victory, the Korean team defied the small number of possible outcomes to secure advancement to the next round. At the dramatic moment of victory, Jung jun-ha was watching the game live at the Tokyo Dome, cheering.
After fans likened the out recorded by Moon Bo-kyung to a closer in baseball, comparing it to a scene from Infinite Challenge, Jung jun-ha also quoted it and recalled Infinite Challenge.
Nineteen years after the broadcast, scenes from Infinite Challenge are being talked about not only by loyal listeners but also by baseball fans. Moreover, seeing cast member Jung jun-ha enjoying it still brings laughter.
