Wooyoung took the mound as the ceremonial pitcher before South Korea's final first-round game against Australia at the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) held at Tokyo Dome on the 9th.
Appearing on the field that day, Wooyoung delivered an energetic ceremonial pitch before WBC spectators, expressing his wish for South Korea's victory. Receiving great cheers for his perfect pitch, Wooyoung did not spare his passionate support for the win until the end.
With this performance linking K-pop and international sports in a symbolic meeting that united baseball-loving fans around the world, Wooyoung further expanded his global presence and truly proved his status as a "world-class artist."
A lifelong baseball fan, Wooyoung said after throwing the ceremonial pitch, "It is a great honor to throw the ceremonial pitch at the WBC, which is called the dream stage for world-class baseball players. I was happy to be able to cheer on South Korean players at the venue. I will continue to support them."
Meanwhile, ATEEZ, of which Wooyoung is a member, will continue its world tour "IN YOUR FANTASY" with stops in Manila on the 14th, Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd, Macau on the 28th, and Bangkok on April 4.
