"Baek Sajang" culinary researcher Paik Jong-won achieved half of his annual sales target and produced a turnaround despite a business crisis.
On the 10th broadcast of Baek Sajang season 3, scenes showing the disclosure of sales on the fourth day of business were depicted.
That day, the members expressed disappointment at the unexpectedly small number of customers despite it being Saturday night. They wondered whether the cause was that the store was located at the end of the street rather than the main alley, but the shop right next door was full. John Park said, "Why are there so few people?" expressing concern, and to check the problem John Park and Lee Jang-woo went out onto the street themselves.
Upon checking, most of the nearby restaurants had been converted into bars, and each table was full of drinks and side dishes. The members thus belatedly identified the reason the dinner service had been poor. In fact, that day 40 people visited at lunch and 26 at dinner, failing to reach the target of 80 people.
The next morning, the members nervously checked the final sales for the fourth day of business. First, lunch sales were 1,775 euros, recording about 2.88 million won, producing a satisfactory result. Paik Jong-won also said, "We sold a lot," showing a pleased reaction. But dinner sales were 1,097 euros, about 1.78 million won, a figure about 34% lower than lunch, which surprised everyone.
Nevertheless, total sales achieved more than 50% of the annual sales target of 1 billion won, continuing a record-setting performance. The likelihood of meeting the target also increased. Paik Jong-won said, "Let's choose the dinner menu well," and began revising strategy. Yoon Si-yoon suggested, "I think a menu that people can easily eat on Sunday would be good," and Paik Jong-won mentioned kimchi jjim. Yoon Si-yoon agreed, saying, "It's good for drinking." They added Korean-style dishes such as rolled omelet and set a dinner strategy. In particular, Paik Jong-won also expressed his determination to retry makgeolli steamed bread.
He said, "I'll beat the baguette," vowing revenge, and hearing this, Yoon Si-yoon recalled his past appearance in the drama Jeppangwang Kim Tak-gu, drawing laughter. When Paik Jong-won joked, "In front of the baking king...", Yoon Si-yoon replied, "You're still doing well," turning the scene into an uproar of laughter.
