The play "Secret Passage," which has been receiving daily praise for its distinctive worldbuilding and solid narrative and causing a box-office sensation in Daehangno, opens its fourth round of ticket sales today (the 10th).
This fourth ticket opening covers a total of 16 performances from Apr. 14 (Tue) to Apr. 26 (Sun), and is expected to accelerate midrun box-office momentum. The production team raised expectations by immediately releasing additional stage stills that capture the essence of the performance for the audience who have continuously shown interest and support.
The newly released stage stills capture, intact, moments of densely layered drama where taut tension between actors and warm consolation intersect, grabbing attention. The photos, which delicately portray subtle emotional changes between characters, once again remind viewers of the deep resonance the production offers.
They also visually demonstrate the directing team's refined mise-en-scène and meticulous stage composition, revealing the unique aesthetics of "Secret Passage." Scenes that stand out for their use of light and darkness and spatial utilization confirm at a glance the prowess of the veteran production team that supports the work's completeness.
In particular, the fantastic chemistry and perfect ensemble created on stage by six actors with different charms—Yang Kyung-won, Kim Seon-ho, Kim Sungkyu, Lee Si-hyung, Oh Kyung-joo and Kang Seung Ho—deliver an overwhelming sense of immersion to viewers.
Based on the original work by Tomohiro Maekawa, a master representing the Japanese theater world, the play "Secret Passage" raised its level of completeness by reinterpreting the author's world, which already has a solid fandom in Korea through works such as "The Strolling Invader" and "The Sun," with a Korean production's distinct sensibility. Maekawa, who recently attended the Korean performance in person, praised it without reserve, saying, "I am very satisfied with the completeness of the Korean production, full of refined sensibility and warm energy."
Furthermore, the triple casting of 'Yang Kyung-won·Kim Seon-ho·Kim Sungkyu' and 'Lee Si-hyung·Oh Kyung-joo·Kang Seung Ho' produces three-dimensional character interpretations unique to each actor and densely staged pairings that offer fresh charms at every performance, becoming the core driving force behind audiences returning to the theater for multiple viewings, the so-called "Nth viewing."
