Kim Jeong-tae's eldest son sang an animation OST in the living room, and his father, Kim Jeong-tae, quietly watched his son singing from the kitchen. He said "His interests are unique. To put it positively, they're unique, and to put it negatively, he has hobbies that make it hard for him to get along with other kids."
Afterward, all the family members prepared a meal in the kitchen, and the eldest son, Jihoo, followed only his mother around, continuously explaining the content of the animation. Kim Jeong-tae's wife confessed, "He only talks about what he likes and doesn't listen to others," adding, "I think Jihoo shows symptoms of Asperger syndrome."
It turned out that Jihoo was circling around because he wanted to communicate with his family, and this was Jihoo's own way of communicating.
In particular, Kim Jeong-tae's wife said, "My son Jihoo has no interest in other people. He tends to have no interest in others at all. He doesn't care at all what that person thinks. You can see it as a simple style," adding, "So he has difficulty understanding people's feelings. On the other hand, the fact that he is so good at English is a good sign. It's like a double-edged sword."
Meanwhile, Kim Jeong-tae appeared with Jihoo, who was called 'Yakkungi,' on KBS2's The Return of SUPERMAN in 2014 and received much love. Twelve years later, now 16, Jihoo has grown beyond recognition, and because of his halting Korean, rumors arose that "might he have a developmental disability?"
Regarding this, Kim Jeong-tae expressed frustration at the rumors, saying, "He said English is more comfortable for him. He's the kind of child who has been interested in other languages since he was young. I'm worried. Because my son uses English, his Korean is halting, and people said, 'Doesn't that mean the child has a developmental disability?'", showing his upset over the rumors.
Dad and Me Season 3 will air on the 11th.
