'Singer Soyou opened up about her honest thoughts on marriage and childbirth.
On the 10th, a video titled 'Brothers started meddling... Soyou fought back | Alddalcham EP.8' was released on the YouTube channel Alddalttalhan Chamgyeon.
That day Soyou shared her recent life, saying, "People think I lost weight easily, but I lost it like crazy since January," which drew laughter.
Then, when sashimi appeared as a side dish, she confessed a childhood fish trauma. She said, "When I was young a fish bone got stuck in my throat, so since then I've had a trauma about fish," and "Until third or fourth grade in elementary school my father had to chew it to check there were no bones for me to eat. I ate what my father chewed and spat out," she revealed, causing the cast to burst into laughter.
When asked about her recent life these days, she candidly answered, "a boring life." When the cast asked, "Is it because of marriage?", Soyou said she was born in 1991 and is 35 this year.
In response, Heo Kyunghwan said, "If you're going to give up on marriage a little, not from an older brother's perspective," adding, "You're so pretty, and I was happiest when I was 35. A woman's age is not important," offering encouragement. Then Soyou said, "It's not that I won't get married," but also said, "My original life goal wasn't to be Korea's top star Beyoncé but to be a devoted, virtuous wife. Since I was young my dream was to build a happy family."
But she also revealed what changed her thinking. Soyou said, "When I was 30 I planned to get my body healthy and freeze my eggs," and added, "It turned out it's not finished with one time — you have to give injections to your abdomen every day. But I have a severe phobia of injections, so I ultimately gave up," she said.
She went on, "Also, going through the COVID period made me not want to bring a child into a world like this," and said candidly, "If I'm not going to have a child, do I really need to get married? So my thoughts about marriage naturally decreased."
