Yang Jun-hyuk and Park Hyun-sun, a married couple, recalled the pain of losing a twin son and shed tears.
On the 8th episode of KBS's 'The boss's ears are donkey ears', the couple hosted a housewarming at their new home in Pohang.
That day, when asked about plans for a second child, Park Hyun-sun said, "I was pregnant with twins but one was miscarried. That one was a son. It was a bit sad," revealing the pain of losing one of the twins.
He said, "Because I conceived through in vitro fertilization, I didn't really have a strong desire for pregnancy until then, but the moment we started it I wanted it so much. I was truly grateful that it happened at once. I didn't expect twins. I couldn't put it into words. I couldn't believe it. But actually I think this kept suppressing my rising excitement. Even when we got married I thought, 'Can I be this happy?' and I was anxious someone might take it away. But when we saw the baby's home and heard the heartbeat, one of them didn't sound clear," he confessed.
He continued, "The doctor said it wasn't clearly audible yet so come next week to listen. It could be heard a bit the next week but it kept cutting out. The following week it happened again and there was a size difference in the bodies. As it went on, it gradually (resulted in a miscarriage)," he recalled.
Park Hyun-sun said, "Rather than being consumed by grief, I felt I had to protect at least this one child. So I couldn't show it openly to protect (my daughter) Lee-ja until the end, but inside I felt enormous anxiety."
Yang Jun-hyuk also reflected on the time, saying, "My wife was very mature." He added, "The first thing I worried about when I heard the miscarriage news was Hyun-sun. Because I've been through many big things, I can endure, but I was worried my wife might be hurt. At that time she seemed more mature than me," expressing gratitude toward his wife. Park Hyun-sun said, "Meeting a healthy baby is the most important thing," explaining that she focused on protecting the surviving child, Lee-ja, rather than sorrow.
Later, watching the healthy-born Lee-ja who overcame the pain, Yang Jun-hyuk finally broke down in tears. Kim Sook asked, "Yang Shin also isn't good at expressing himself in words. At that time you must have been very pained and wanted to comfort her, but you couldn't say anything, right?" Yang Jun-hyuk replied, "That's right. I'm poor at expressing myself. I was truly so grateful to my wife. She didn't show it much and got through it well."
Then Kim Sook said, "Say a loving line to your wife even today," and Jun Hyun-moo suggested, "Because you can't say it when you're together, do it on the broadcast." Yang Jun-hyuk expressed his affection, "Wife, I really love you and let's raise our Lee-ja well. Wife, you're the best."
