Actor Lee Sung-kyoung seeped into living rooms with flexible emotional variations.
Lee Sung-kyoung has perfectly immersed herself in the role of Song Ha-ran, a woman who locked herself in winter due to past wounds, in MBC Friday-Saturday drama "In Your Radiant Season," and after meeting Sun Woo-chan (Chae Jong Hyeop), a man who lives like summer vacation, she is firmly leading an emotional narrative in which the frozen winter slowly melts and she opens her heart and heals.
Ha-ran, more than anyone, was a lovable person who did not spare emotional expression to those around her because of her bright and honest personality, but her life changed 180 degrees after the accident in which her boyfriend died before her eyes. Adding to the trauma of witnessing her parents' traffic accident in childhood and then experiencing her boyfriend's accident, Ha-ran, who fell into the fear of not wanting to lose another precious person, cut off relationships with others and locked herself in a cold winter.
In the drama, Lee Sung-kyoung captured attention by naturally portraying Ha-ran from her bright, lovable past to her present self stained by wounds after pain. In episode 1, Lee Sung-kyoung first appeared with lively eyes and a bubbly voice that brought a warm smile, then soon conveyed a character with complex backstory in a deep and convincing way with a low voice and restrained expression, arousing viewers' curiosity while inviting emotional empathy.
In episode 5, broadcast on the 6th, Ha-ran's attempt to honestly reveal her hidden wounds and heal her pain was depicted. Ha-ran kept pushing away Chan, who kept approaching her, but with the sincerity he conveyed, the walls of her heart gradually crumbled and she decided to escape the winter in which she had been trapped.
Lee Sung-kyoung went beyond a simple relationship change and deliberately laid bare Ha-ran's true feelings, which she had endured without showing anyone, in a composed way that moved viewers. By detailing the subtle emotional inflection point where a crack begins to form in the frozen heart with her uniquely fitting character immersion, she greatly heightened the drama's immersion.
By finely modulating the character's emotional flow that spans past and present, Lee Sung-kyoung's high-density emotional performance, which is leading the drama stably, fully permeates the work and injects anticipation for the performances she will show in the remaining episodes.
Meanwhile, episode 6 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season, in which Lee Sung-kyoung is appearing, will air on Fri., the 13th at 9:50 p.m., and episode 7 will be moved up 10 minutes for a special schedule and air on Sat., the 14th at 9:40 p.m.<
